The two nations were due to play each other at
the HDI Arena in Hannover on Tuesday evening,
but the stadium was evacuated after the
discovery of a suspicious object Germany 's
international friendly match with the Netherlands
has been cancelled for safety reasons, it has
been confirmed, after the discovery of a
suspicious object.
The World Cup winners were due to host the
Oranje on Tuesday night at the HDI Arena in
Hannover just days after their match with France
was targeted in the terrorist attacks in Paris.
German chancellor Angela Merkel, and a number
of cabinet ministers, had confirmed that they
were planning to attend the match with the
Netherlands, speaking of a demonstration of
international solidarity.
Police presence was greatly increased as a
result, with numerous armed forces patrolling the
city with submachine guns, and a suspicious
object is believed to have been found at the
stadium - though what exactly is it has yet to be
confirmed. |
