Most of what you call Lagos where there is human occupation is the Western part of Lagos. The eastern part of Lagos is sparsely populated and houses the Dangote refinery, the Lekki seaport and upcoming airport project. The Lekki-Epe expressway is the only road artery connecting the Western and Eastern part of Lagos.

The construction of the coastal road provides an alternative route connecting both parts. Once the population of eastern Lagos starts to increase, there will be a need to develop new road arteries in and out of this side of Lagos. For now, the coastal road represents the only alternative to the already choked Lekki-Epe expressway which is now taking industrial and commercial traffic. It was never meant to take the heavy duty vehicles now plying from the refinery.

When you make these assertions, they come from a place of deep-seated ignorance. Try and find out from the experts what the state of things are.

Lagos has no future with the way things are going. The solution is to invest in rail to spread population out to the south west region.
