Politics / I Am Prepared For PDP Destruction Except Markarfi’s Lead Committee Is Dissolved by packerdency(m): 9:54am On Aug 29, 2016
Factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, says he will continue to run a parallel organ of the party.
A former member of the House of Representatives quoted Sheriff as making the declaration at different occasions.

The chieftain told Vanguard that at separate meetings with the governors and the Board of Trustees chairman, held in the last two days, Sheriff reiterated his demands, which included the dissolution of the Makarfi-led caretaker committee and the composition of a new committee made up of his nominees and others to conduct a fresh convention for the party.

The member said: “The governors came begging and Senator Sheriff reiterated his earlier demands. Having come this far in trying to salvage the party, we cannot afford to hand over the party to the governors so that they can continue with their impunity.

“What happened at the so-called convention in Port Harcourt has vindicated Sheriff’s position that the governors have not learnt anything from the results of the 2015 election.

“Sheriff is out to salvage the party and return it to its owners who are the masses. Nigerians should commend Sheriff for standing up to the shenanigans of the governors.”

Politics / President Buhari Reacts To Man Who Named His DOG ”BUHARI” by packerdency(m): 3:49pm On Aug 26, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari saw the arrest and prosecution Joachim Iroko, a 41 year old trader arrested by the police in Ogun State for naming his dog ‘Buhari,’ as “a ‘laughable incident”, his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said late Thursday.

In a short reaction posted on his Twitter handle, Mr. Shehu said those criticising Mr. Buhari for failing to act on the matter were “ignorance of the type of person he is.”
“He enjoys cartoons and likes sharing them. The ones he enjoys the most are those that caricature him,” Mr. Shehu said. “People should listen to the real story behind this dog incident and to not waste precious time seeking the hand of the President in a laughable incident!”
Mr. Shehu’s comment was the first time the Buhari administration would comment on the development, which has grabbed the headlines for nearly two weeks and sparked debates about free speech.
It also came a few hours after Mr. Iroko was released from jail, after spending three days behind bars while his family sought funds for his bail bond.
The three days were in addition to the eight days Mr. Iroko spent in a police cell in Sango Otta, Ogun State.
Mr. Iroko was first arrested on August 14 by officers attached to the Sango Otta Division after receiving complaints from a neighbour who said the name he gave his dog was offensive.
Salihu Umar filed complaints against Mr. Iroko with the police, alleging that the ‘Buhari’ name Mr. Iroko gave his dog was the same as his father’s name.
Mr. Iroko was arrested by the police and detained before he was finally charged with a one-count of attempted breach of public peace on August 22.
Bolaji Ojikutu, the Chief Magistrate in charge of the case, granted Mr. Iroko a N50,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty. He was transferred to prisons after failing to immediately raise the funds.
Mr. Iroko met his bail conditions on Wednesday after receiving about N90,000 through fundraising appeal coordinated by a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.
He was released around noon on Thursday and he went straight to his residence in Sango-Otta.
Mr. Iroko’s case had continued to generate debates about free speech under the current administration, with many Nigerians saying it was an embarrassment of international magnitude.
The incident also received widespread coverage from the international media.
Eleanor Whitehead, Nigeria correspondent for the Economist, said the development showed that Nigeria had become a “police state.”
Shortly after his release, Mr. Iroko said his arrest and confinement brought untold trauma on his family.
“The President must be having a good laugh over this whole thing,” Mr. Shehu said.

Politics / Stop Blame Game And Work – Soludo To Buhari by packerdency(m): 2:30pm On Aug 26, 2016
Former Central Bank governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has asked President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to stop blaming the past administration for the poor state of the economy.
He said the government should rather begin to think out of the box.

Nigeria would have avoided a recession, he said, adding that one year of the blame game is enough, and that the government should blame its failures instead.
However, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo retorted that the criticism was inevitable because the level of corruption under the past administration had not been experienced in any country in the world.
Both spoke at the 4th lecture series of the Progressive Governors’ Forum in Kaduna yesterday.
Soludo had also scored the economy low saying the Nigeria Capital Market was still in coma with trillions of Naira lost in assets, nominal exchange rate on free-fall with crude capital controls and more than 100 percent of Capital expenditure borrowed.
“Aggregate revenue to the country has imploded while there is import compression and falling customs revenue; income has fallen due to poor tax administration while public sector employees are owed months of salary,” he said.
He also faulted the manner President Buhari is fighting corruption which he said only aims at the symptom and not the ailment.
“I don’t believe the way we are fighting corruption is the way we should go about it. We are only fighting corruption on the surface; we have to fight it from the systemic level.”
But Prof. Osinbajo in his response said the administration was not blaming the past administration for the sake of finger pointing but due to the realities on the ground.
He said the level of corruption that took place during the past administration was to the level that had not been experienced in any country in the world stating that in one sector alone 15 billion dollars was found to have been stolen.
The vice president said in a situation where the external reserve of the country was about 30 billion dollars it was shocking that a whopping 15 billion could be missing in one sector alone.
“Where you find 15 billion dollars stolen in just one sector, you know that it is a major problem in the country where our eternal reserve is 30 billion,” he stated.
Soludo had earlier advised the APC governors on how to tackle the economic challenges facing their states. He stressed that economic growth in Nigeria and the states would not be inclusive if the states do not break the dynasty of poverty, maximize the comparatives and competitive advantage they have.
Soludo noted that 11 States in the North which have the highest rate of population growth and are affected by desertification are the ones suffering from the worst form of poverty in Nigeria.
He said; “55 million people in 11 states are under serious threat (Adamawa; Bauchi; Borno; Gombe; Katsina; Jigawa; Kano; Kebbi; Sokoto; Yobe; Zamfara) and these account for 40% of Nigeria’s land: These are also the POOREST States in Nigeria while crop yields in these states have dropped by 20 percent. The collapse of oil price is a great opportunity and blessing for Nigeria as it offers ample room for the states to improve on their revenue from the less than 5 percent of GDP they currently record.”
He said it would be the first time Nigeria would be expected to transform its economy without external conditionalities.
He recalled that in the previous administrations, economic policies were being monitored and teleguided by the super powers and other multi lateral organizations.
He however said the APC government must have the discipline to see those programmes through.
Soludo said the way out of the poverty cycle for the states will be to develop the education sector so that the children of the poor will be given same opportunity with others to participate in the economy.
He advised the APC governors to move from an election winning coalition that only wanted to grab power to a governing team.
With the control of the federal government and 23 states in the country the APC has no excuse to fail, he said.
“The APC should go back to its manifesto and instigate framework that will engender the atmosphere for growth as Nigeria cannot develop with the current structure where institutions are created only to share from the federation account,” he added.
“APC needs to come clean with Nigeria, explain to Nigeria’s the agenda and steps it intends to take within the time line to get there. Be the change that we want to see. When we communicate change, symbolism is important. Nigerians have given you a mandate of change, now deliver the change that you promised,” he stated.
Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai in his welcome address noted that Nigeria is facing economic crisis saying the problems are due to past and present missteps adding that Nigeria needs a fundamental shift from how things were done in the past.

Politics / Gov Ambode Urge FG To Unbundle Potentials Of States For Economic Growth by packerdency(m): 11:02am On Aug 26, 2016
…Says States must explore comparative advantages, multiple revenue streams
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday said the Federal Government has a critical role to play in addressing the fundamental structural challenges undermining sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the states of the federation, among which is unbundling the potentials of each of the federating units.
Speaking in Kaduna at the 4th Progressive Governance Lecture Series organized by Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the theme: “Building The Economy of States: Challenge of Developing Inclusively Sustainable Growth,” Governor Ambode said the Federal Government must allow the states to develop the natural resources within their domain and create the necessary infrastructure that would attract investors.
Governor Ambode, who spoke on the Lagos experience of de-emphasizing reliance on oil, said Governors must also be encouraged to tap into multiple streams of income within their domain, especially with the Federal Government allowing the states to develop their potentials.
The Governor lamented the situation whereby Governors have power over the land in their domain but cannot tap into the resources under the land and even the water, saying that such must stop so that Governors can have power over both the land and resources underneath, thereby unbundling the potentials of the states.
“We need to start looking at some changes that we need to make within and among ourselves as a government irrespective of whether it is federal, state or local government – that will now unbundle the potentials of each state which is the cornerstone of the whole message we are talking about.
“There is a great need for all of us to decide once and for all to unbundle the potentials of each state; take the comparative advantages of each state and fuse them together for the needs of our people.
“Governors are the owners of the land in their states but underneath the land and even inside the water, the Federal Government is structured in a way that it controls those potentials. In a situation where the states are being spoon-fed, because I call the federation account more or less like spoon-feeding. The federal government collects total revenue on Value Added Tax (VAT) and various revenues on behalf of all of us and make us to come to Abuja and more or less share it to us as peanuts thereby not allowing us to reach our potentials as competitive states individually,” the Governor said.
While alluding to the fact that insignia of progressivism in Nigeria should be first seen in the APC states, Governor Ambode said all critical actors must work together in the common interest of the people.
He said: “There is just one economy in this country and so we need to first of all accept the fact that there is nothing like private sector as against public sector; there is nothing like Federal Government as against State Government. We are collaborating together to drive the economy of this country. So if that describes what Nigeria is and what it ought to be, we also want to say that government should be seen as an enabler; a platform that more or less creates the enabling environment for the public sector to thrive.
“If we see ourselves as messengers to allow enabling environment to thrive, that means that whatever it is that we are doing, we must do it in such a way that will allow that enabling environment so that commerce, industry and our people can feel that sense of inclusion and that is why all of us are here. We are making progress because we are there because of our people and if we are there because of our people, it is just those basic little things that our people need that we should go ahead and address.
“We all must be in one set and whatever that we are doing in terms of policy; what it is that we are doing in terms of what I now refer to as re-arrangement, we should now focus on people and then we should be people-friendly. And that is the only was we can create that inclusive growth,” he said.

Romance / Reasons Why Many Pretty Ladies Are Still Single by packerdency(m): 3:54pm On Aug 24, 2016
1. She’s grown out of “dating for the sake of dating.”
These girls are not into wasting their time or energy on a guy they really can’t see themselves being with long term. Casual dates just seem like a waste of time. It doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in dating, she’s just not interested in attending ONE more mediocre date. Mediocre dates happen solely for the sake of going on a date. This is a concept that has grown tired on her. She would rather have a good gym sesh, some pinot noir, a face mask, and bed by 9 p.m. than participate in a forced date. She’s become picky, but if someone worthwhile came along, she would be on a date in a heartbeat!
2. She’s not into meaningless sex.
As much as we all try and dance around this topic, our generation is known to have casual sex with “no strings attached.” She does not confuse “dating” with “hooking up.” A “hot but single” girl has been there and done that with the A-holes who just want ass. She is not going to be down for this guy. To her, nothing is worse than being reminded of the losers from her past by a sub-par hookup and zero follow through on a guys part. Sex is better with someone she has feelings for, and she’s willing to wait for that.
3. She’s not looking to fill a void.
As young adults, we are innately forced to focus on a few key areas of life. This list normally includes: career, family, health, romantic relationships, and friends. What if this “hot but single” girl is killing it in every area other than dating? Is she really going to feel a huge glaring void in her life? The answer is no. A woman, hot or not, who has a complete life isn’t going to succumb to the throes of dating desperation to find the one thing she’s missing. She’s too pretty, busy and happy to force it with the next guy who comes along just to place a checkmark next to her romantic life.
4. She seems to have it all.
The following statement may be controversial, but it’s also true . . . guys are NOT idiots. When a guy meets this “hot but single” that has her sh*t so together, he knows she is wife material. He can’t find a laundry list of reasons to give her the fade away after two weeks. She has beauty, brains and a glowing personality to boot. Dating what could be a future wife can scare the living crap out of a guy. It forces the issue of whether he wants commitment anytime soon, or at all. So, unfortunately for this hot single girl, most of the guys she’s dating aren’t ready for this, so they feel forced to call it quits before it begins. They see the situation for what it is and bail wishing they could cross her path in fiveish years.
5. She knows exactly what she wants.
This hottie hot hot singleton has dated around enough to have learned from her past and identify specifically what she wants in her long term bae. She is sick and tired of making exceptions for losers that live with their moms, but are “really driven.” She is looking for someone as independent, successful, and as happy as she is! Her list of non-negotiables is rock solid, and she knows better than to waste her time on a dude who doesn’t match what she wants. She refuses to settle for just anyone.

Politics / President Buhari Asks EFCC To Investigate Amaechi Over $757 Million Theft by packerdency(m): 3:47pm On Aug 24, 2016
Buhari Asks EFCC To Investigate Amaechi Over $757 Million Theft
President Mohammadu Buhari has secretly asked the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately investigate and prosecute a former governor of Rivers State who is also the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, over the $757 million (N80 billion Naira) that was allegedly found in his Bancorp Bank account in the United States of America.
It would be recalled that Mr. Rotimi Amaechi recently wrote to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States and claimed that the said $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name was authorized by him in error from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc.
But a source at the Presidency told Nigerian Concord Newspapers that President Buhari had personally called Amaechi several times to explain his roles In the alleged laundering.
According to the source, Mr. Amaechi’s explanation didn’t go down well with Buhari who vowed to ensure that he gets to the truth of the matter.
It was gathered that the president this morning instructed the EFCC’s chairman, Mr. Magu, to secretly investigate Amaechi’s role and bring him to justice immediately his involvement is confirmed.
Buhari’s action was a follow up to a letter that the bank wrote to the Presidency that it was ready to repatriate the said funds to Nigeria.
Buhari, it was gathered, is very angry with the Transportation Minister for lying in his two letters to the US bank another bank in Switzerland that all the monies found in his foreign accounts in the two countries were transferred in error from a Rivers State government account with Access Bank while he was governor of the state.
Amaechi’s letter to the US bank stated that the said transfers to both banks were for the purchase of security Helicopters, payments to a foreign company to combat malaria in Rivers state by using helicopters to spray mosquito insecticides, and for the purchase of an official residence for Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in America.
The letter further explains that the payments for the security helicopters, and mosquito insecticides to fight malaria were made through other sources, after the funds had already been transferred abroad.
It also reminds the bank that the Rivers state law on his severance package, provides for an official residence for a former governor; of which he chose to have his residence in America.
Amaechi said that, this law was later amended to have his official residence built in Nigeria, after the funds had already been transferred to his Bancorp Bank account.
Mr. Amaechi said these changes were the reasons he communicated the consultants for purchase of security helicopters, his official residence in the U.S and the Insecticide companies not to access the funds; since they have been paid through other sources.

Celebrities / Khloe Kardashian Finally Opens Up About Skin Cancer Scare by packerdency(m): 2:18pm On Aug 19, 2016
Khloe Kardashian is all about fun and games a lot of the time, but the reality star got serious with fans recently when she urged them to keep a close eye on their skin.

In a new post she put on her app, Khloe opened up about a personal incident where she found something on her skin that landed her in the doctor’s office, receiving some shocking news. “I have moles everywhere, and a couple years ago, I noticed one growing under my breast. I immediately looked it up online and found out that if a mole is growing and changing shape, you should go to the doctor…so I did,” she wrote. “They took the whole thing out and they biopsied it.”

Luckily for the 32-year-old, it came back benign, but her doctors were still not happy and decided to look into some of her other moles. “There was one mole I had on my back that was skin cancer. I had 8 inches of skin removed. It was definitely painful because it was a lot of skin, but most of the time, the removals haven’t been bad. Now that I’ve gone through this a couple of times, I am extra aware of my skin, body and moles.”

She then shared an important message with her fans. “I urge you to check yourself frequently! I haven’t had a problem in years, but wanted to share my experience with you so that if you notice something doesn’t look right, you will take action and take care of your health!”

Foreign Affairs / Shocking: Donald Trump’s Penis Is Disturbing, NYC Parks Department Confirms by packerdency(m): 2:12pm On Aug 19, 2016
New Yorkers breathed a collective sigh of relief around 1:20 p.m. today when a seriously foul sculpture of Donald Trump with his junk out was removed from Union Square by the NYC Parks Department.

Still, they managed to deliver one last sick burn toward the Republican presidential candidate. As tweeted by Wall Street Journal reporter Josh Dawsey:

NYC parks department on naked Trump statue: “NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.”

— Josh Dawsey (@jdawsey1) August 18, 2016
Yup, that’s a real quote. It seems even Trump’s tiny penis, devoid of any testicles whatsoever, still went against official NYC park policy.

Oh well, probably for the best. That thing was straight-up ghastly.

And the Twitter responses roll in …

Rough day: Gawker’s dead, private prisons aren’t, Uber phasing out jobs.

But then, a twinkle of hope… https:///QUDWOn9pPT

It’s been a bad day for Donald Trump. And maybe the best day for Josh Dawsey.

Nothing I ever tweet will get as many retweets and responses as a phallic joke from the NYC parks department on a naked Trump statue.
