Politics › Tinubu Bags Lifetime African Achievement Award In Ghana by PDPdestroyer(op): 5:32pm On May 12, 2025 |
President Bola Tinubu has bagged the Lifetime African Achievement award from the Millennium Excellence Foundation based in Ghana, NAN reports on Monday.
Tinubu, while receiving the award, commended the patron of the Foundation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for the invitation extended to him and the success of the event put together by the foundation.
The President, represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, received the award as special guest of honour during the 25th anniversary of the Millennium Excellence Prize in Kumasi, Ghana.
Tinubu said, “I salute the visionaries who have nurtured this institution for a quarter of a century and also celebrate the values of honour, integrity, service, and excellence that underpin its work.
“Specifically, the organisers for identifying and celebrating Africa’s shining lights, individuals whose lives and work had lifted the continent and inspired generations.
“It is no small achievement to have honoured such illustrious figures as the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, President Cyril Ramaphosa and Dr Mo Ibrahim, among others.”
He charged the young generation of Africans to rise with courage towards contributing their quota to make the African continent a more united, peaceful, and prosperous one.
He emphasised the need for such contribution to be carried out in the area of science, technology, education, governance, entrepreneurship and arts.
He further called on Africans to always work closely together in shaping their shared destiny, while urging the event organisers to continue to inspire excellence, uphold values of leadership with service and invest in the youth to foster collaboration across borders.
“The award ceremony, from inception in 1988, remained a beacon of inspiration and recognition across the continent.
“Its mission of identifying, celebrating and supporting those who had distinguished themselves in the pursuit of African development resonated deeply with the aspirations of Nigeria and indeed, all African nations,” he added.
The event featured the presentation of the Lifetime African Achievement Prize to Tinubu, the global intra-African trade excellence in Africa to the President/Chairman, African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM), Dr Benedict Oramah.
Also, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, received the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize for Governance and Public Service, the Founder/Chairman, BUA Group, Alhaji AbdulSamad Rabiu, received African Excellence in Business, while Mr Dumo Lulu-Briggs received the African Traditional Leadership and Business Excellence award. https://punchng.com/tinubu-bags-lifetime-african-achievement-award-in-ghana/

Politics › Re: Charles Soludo Campaigning With Obi's Achievements As Governor (Throwback Video) by PDPdestroyer(m): 4:32pm On May 12, 2025 |
But Soludo took over from Obiano, not POO. He actually said poverty came down from over 53% under PO to 14% under Obiano. There are national statistics to show that indeed poverty increased to 53% under Obi. I won't be surprised if this is another hatchet job by Obidients who might have edited this video and inserted Peter Obi into this video, we saw them doing lots of this to Tinubu's campaign videos in 2023 |

I was reliably informed by a source who prefers not to be named that the massive defections from the Northern block to APC is to make sure Tinubu fails at the primaries because they will all vote for a Northerner as the party's flag bearer in 2027. Tinubu won't be on the ballot in 2027 Sorry guys, I just want to sound like your typical Obidient |

I have a suggestion for the PDP and the coalition on how to grab power from the APC. They should allow Atiku run on one ticket with Obi as his VP under PDP, then on the coalition ticket, they should make Obi run with either El-Rufai or Oseni Rufai as his VP. There is no way one of these two tickets won’t kick the APC out, my humble opinion |

Politics › You’re Very Wrong, Aisha Yesufu Disagrees With Peter Obi Over 2012 Protest by PDPdestroyer(op): 5:30pm On May 09, 2025 |
Aisha Yesufu, an activist and one of the supporters of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has openly disagreed with Obi’s recent comments on the 2012 Occupy Nigeria protest against fuel subsidy removal.
In a YouTube video uploaded on Thursday, Yesufu criticised Obi’s remarks that there was no need for protests during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration when fuel prices increased from N87 to N120.
She said, “First of all, I’m going to start with where Mr Peter Obi said there was no need to protest during Jonathan’s time. I think that’s a very wrong allusion to have like there’s no need to protest.”
Yesufu emphasised that protest is a fundamental right in a democracy, regardless of who is in power.
She said, “Let’s look at Nigeria for example and let’s look at countries in the other parts of the world where they are doing very well. People are protesting every day, there’s never a time where there’s no need to protest.
"And if Mr Obi thinks he’s gonna get into office and think people will not protest no matter how good he is, then he should drop that.”
According to her, should Obi eventually become Nigeria’s President, she would not hesitate to demonstrate if necessary.
Responding further, Yesufu countered Obi’s point, adding the Jonathan’s time of N120 per litre was also a better time to protest because the current situation was then, in the future and nobody protest what is in the future.
“What Peter Obi needs to understand, and what everybody needs to understand is that, at that time, people were protesting against N120. The N900 of today was in the future. Nobody protests for the future,” she argued.
“If there was any time a protest should have happened, it was during Jonathan,” the activist added. https://tribuneonlineng.com/youre-very-wrong-aisha-yesufu-disagrees-with-peter-obi-over-2012-protest/
