The place you were asked: Why did you pick the school is the major question. Your starting doesn't really look perfect. Other things you Said might be good in your own hearing but might not be perfect too. Maybe you should do mock interviews with people next time. You will surely get it by the grace of God.
Lest I forget! You should have avoided saying internship. Internship means you are working and most internships come with possibility of post study employment. Even though, they have, you should have avoided it for the sake of a "NON IMMIGRANT VISA". So, that you don't make them to suspect you. But at latter end, you shall have it, by the grace of God.

I’m not sure there is anything for others to learn from it cos I didn’t really know the reason for the denial Which is why the procedure in getting the expedited appointment is more important to me at the moment. But there you go

Visa Denied.

VO: Hi Pls pass your documents the way it was arranged for you
Me: Hi. Good morning. (Passes them)
VO: where are you going to?
Me: University of Illinois
VO: what are you studying:
Me: Masters in finance
VO: finance you say?
Me: yes please
VO: why did you pick this school
Me: it has a graduate public service internship programme. (Then I went ahead to explain how the programme benefits me)
VO: okay where do you work presently
Me: I told him
VO: how long have you been there
Me: About 3 years; precisely 2years and 9months.
VO: who is sponsoring you
Me: My dad
Have you travelled before
Me: No; I haven’t had a reason to
VO: Married?
ME: No
VO: any kids?
Me: No.

VO: okay I won’t be issuing your Visa. I wish you best of luck.

Please has anyone who has been denied a visa recently applied for an expedited appointment for another and how long did it take for your mail to be acknowledged... I suppose the procedure starts with sending a mail after getting all documents ready.

Anyone with the right information about this should please assist.
