Objectively speaking, the man is humble. Just ur regular man from the creeks who wasnt prepared to handle the highest office in the land! |
It is because of folks like u that the country is in the mess it is. Hating for no reason whatsoever |
I like President Goodluck Jonathan. I have never met him in person, but from public appearances he strikes me as a well-mannered and reasonable man, with the kind of humility and decency not often seen in Nigerian politicians. However there are many people that I like but whom I will agree are not suited for public office. President Jonathan is not suited for the difficult job of governing Nigeria. A PhD in zoology does not prepare one to deal with human animals like Boko Haram. A life in academia is very different from the horse trading of dealing with rapacious senators and governors. As far as I know, President Jonathan never intended to be Nigeria’s president. He was a deputy governor when the governor was impeached without his knowledge. He was picked to be Vice President precisely because he offered no threat to the President as he had no ambition, it was unfortunate the President died and he got a job he never prepared for. On February 14, my valentine present would be to send President Jonathan to a well-deserved retirement. Nigeria takes good care of its former leaders with emoluments amounting to more than a million dollars annually until they die. We still have need for him to help us open schools and give motivational speeches to our children about how high anyone can rise. Boko Haram killed more people last year than ISIS. Boko Haram now controls as much territory as ISIS. In the next 4 years, unless checked, Boko Haram would control much of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. We cannot afford that. Boko Haram must be fought vigorously by someone who understands the complexity of the task and has the strength of character to fire the generals who have done an abysmally poor task so far. President Jonathan, it is not about you, it is about the survival of Nigeria. Oyewole Akande |

Of all people to run to? IBB? Young Nigerians, leave all sentiments aside, it is crystal clear Mr Jonathan may be a good man, but he apparently doesnt have the charisma or competence to turn things around. Let us save our country from this freefall. Moreso, 15 years of PDP has not changed our lives in any significant way. Lets give way to change |

At least 126 people, mostly children, have been killed in a Taliban assault on an army-run school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, officials say. Five or six militants are said to have entered the building. Five are reported to have been killed, at least one of them in a suicide blast. The army says most of the 500 students have been evacuated. It is not clear if any are still inside. The attack is being seen as one of the worst-ever in Pakistan. The BBC's Shahzeb Jillani in Karachi says the militants appear to have been intent on killing as many students as possible - rather than taking hostages, as initially thought. Thousands of Pakistanis have been killed in militant violence in recent years - but the latest attack has caused unprecedented shock. A spokesman for the militants told BBC Urdu that the school had been targeted in response to army operations. Hundreds of Taliban fighters are thought to have died in a recent military offensive in North Waziristan and the nearby Khyber area. |

The great Owu Chief is perhaps the only ex-leader who has no moral standing whatsoever to criticise this administration or any other one. However, it doesn't dispute the fact that this administration is leading us no where. Change is coming!tick tock |
