A life-sized mural that shows Donald Trump kissing Pope Francis on the lips has appeared on a wall near the Vatican.

The painting, which depicts the pontiff with a halo around his head while the American president sports devilish horns, was created in Rome on Thursday.

The caption on the sash of the pope's cassock reads 'the good forgives the evil.'

The mural - painted less than two weeks before the pair are due to meet - is signed 'TVBoy,' who is believed to be Italian street artist Salvatore Benintende.

The mural, which was painted on paper and pasted on to the wall during the night, was the latest work by street artists depicting the pope to appear in Rome in recent months.

This one shows Francis, wearing a simple crucifix around his neck, embracing Trump, who wears a gold watch and sports a pistol in a holster.

The pope's halo is the same bright yellow colour as Trump's hair. The two are locked in a mouth-to-mouth kiss.

'It is very provocative but not too shocking for someone coming from America,' said a Californian tourist who gave only his first name, Victor.

The mural was pasted on a wall on a street named 'Way of the Bank of Holy Spirit' across the Tiber River from the Vatican.

Francis and Trump are due to meet at the Vatican on May 24 while the president is on a tour of Saudi Arabia, Israel, Italy and Belgium.

In February the Pope repeated his appeal for people to build bridges not walls amid a global backlash over the Trump administration's attempts to impose a travel ban on seven mostly Muslim countries.

The pope did not overtly refer to Trump in his comments but spoke on the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita - a 19th-century Sudanese slave who became a nun after migrating to Europe.

Sudan is one of the seven countries on the US travel ban list.

'In the social and civil context as well, I appeal not to create walls but to build bridges,' he said. 'To not respond to evil with evil. To defeat evil with good, the offence with forgiveness. A Christian would never say "You will pay for that." Never.'

Such murals depicting the pope eventually are taken down by a special group of Rome sanitation workers known as 'The Decorum Squad'.


Local media have criticised the unit for removing popular art while unsightly graffiti blights many buildings and heaps of garbage pile up on sidewalks because of a collection backlog.

A sad incident has claimed the lives of about 200 migrants trying to cross to Europe for a better life after they suffered a shipwreck.
Some migrants drown in the Mediterranean sea while trying to cross to Europe


Almost 200 people are feared to have died in two Mediterranean Sea migrant shipwrecks during the weekend, according to reports on Monday.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Libya said that seven people were rescued off the north-western city of Zawiya, and one of them said 113 others were missing.

The information was posted on Twitter and confirmed by an IOM Spokesman in Rome, Flavio Di Giacomo.

Separately, 80 people died on Saturday after the rubber dinghy they were travelling on overturned, according to the ANSA news agency, which sourced its report from survivors’ accounts to Italian prosecutors.

The sea channel between Italy and Libya is the world’s busiest and most dangerous sea migration route.

More than 6,600 people were rescued there between Friday and Sunday.

On Sunday, the Head of the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, said more than 1,150 people died or went missing since the start of the year in sea crossings to Europe.

Grandi added that the mortality rate on the Libya-Italy route was one in 35.

He praised efforts by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), noting that they had carried out one third of rescue operations since January 1, and renewed calls for EU authorities to open legal migration channels to spare people from dangerous sea journeys.

NGOs involvement in sea rescues has become controversial since an Italian prosecutor accused them of acting in cahoots with Libyan people smugglers.

The prosecutor says he has suspicions but no proof; the NGOs have rejected all charges.

The sad story how a pretty female youth corper was gruesomely killed while returning from a nightclub has been revealed.

The circumstance surrounding the sudden death of a pretty National Youth Service Corps member, Charity Thilza has been revealed. The 25-year-old died three days to the completion of her National Youth Service Corps programme in Abuja.

According to Punch, the Borno State indigene was killed by some robbers along Wuse 2 Road while she was returning home from a nightclub in Carribean, Wuse 2, around 3am on Monday.

The ‘passing-out parade,’ which marked the completion of her one-year programme, would hold on Thursday (today). She studied Linguistics and English at the University of Maiduguri.

The report has it that Thilza and four friends, identified simply as Lola, Bisi, Pooja (an Indian) and a man had attended a show at the club, where a hip hop artiste, Chibuzor Azubuike, popularly called Phyno, performed on Sunday.

They were said to be returning home from the party in a car the following day when the robbers gave them a chase.

The assailants reportedly shot at the car repeatedly and some of the bullets pierced through the windscreen and hit Thilza, who was sitting at the back. One of the friends, Lola, was said to have also sustained gunshot injuries.

The robbers retreated when they noticed that the driver of the car was heading towards a police station. Thilza’s close friend, Thlama Bukar, said she was rushed to a hospital, but was rejected. She said she died on the way to another hospital that she was referred to.

Bukar, who spoke with Punch on the telephone, said she was together with Thilza until Friday, when she (Bukar) returned to Maiduguri, Borno State, where she lives.

She said, “Phyno performed at the Carribean (the club) on Sunday. They were coming back home around 3am on Monday when they noticed that a car was trailing them. They took a detour, but the car continued following them. The driver of their car started speeding and the robbers opened fire on the car. Unfortunately, some of the bullets hit Thilza from the back of the car.

“Five persons went for the party. One of them is a man, but I don’t know his name. I learnt Lola was also hit by the bullets and has been admitted to a hospital. The incident was reported to the police.

“Thilza lived in Zone 6, Wuse 2, and served at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja. She clocked 25 years in January. Her corpse will be brought to Maiduguri on Thursday (today). Her father is late. Presently, her mother is not talking; she is very distraught. She was the first child of the family. She has four young siblings.”

Bukar said Thilza had planned to join the NSCDC after the service, adding that her death was a big loss to the family.

She said, “She was a kind and simple person. I left her and other friends in Abuja on Friday. They accompanied me to the airport when I was returning to Maiduguri. She told me she wanted to join the NSCDC.”

Friends of the deceased on Facebook have also expressed shock over her death, extending their condolences to her family.

One Monsurat Abdulrasaq wrote, “Oh, Charity! Our souls are full of pains on hearing of your unfair demise. This got to me like a swift wind. May God comfort your entire family at this tough time. May God bring you comfort. Amen.”

A colleague, Jabal Gadzama, wrote on Thilza’s timeline that they met a few days ago.

“Please, can someone explain what happened to me? I was with her last week during the biometric for our NYSC final clearance. Please, just tell me it is not true,” she said.

The spokesperson for the NYSC, Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, said the corps was making efforts to ensure the release of the corpse for burial.

She said, “The victim was our member with code number, FCT/15a/5295. She was supposed to pass out on Thursday (today). We learnt she and her friends went clubbing.

“When they were coming back around 3am in a flashy car, armed robbers trailed them. When they could not get them, they shot at the car and the bullets hit her.

“They tried rushing her to the National Hospital, Abuja, but she died on the way. The family members are in Abuja with the NYSC coordinator. The corpse is with the police. Possibly, it will be released for burial tomorrow (Thursday).”

The police spokesperson, FCT Command, ASP Anjuguri Mensah, said he was on a course and promised to send the number of his deputy to our correspondent for comments on the incident. He had, however, yet to send the number as of press time.

A man beat his wife to death with a pipe wrench after learning she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby authorities have reported.

The man, Claude Sejour called the police after he had killed the woman.
The 49-year-old resident of Hollywood, who according to the police, does not have any record of previous criminal records admitted to beating his wife to death.

“I did it. I finished her and called the police and went outside,” he said to the arriving officers, according to a report. He was wearing a bloodstained white button-down shirt and had blood on his hands and cheek, the report said.


“I’m not crazy,” he told officers, according to the report.

As his wife, Marie Joseph, 40, lay dying in her bed, her 17-year-old daughter tried to wake her, a neighbor told police.

Sejour is being held without bond in Broward’s main jail Thursday on a murder charge.
