mktinsight:If you had come out clean from the star to say I'm from Enugu and i'm against an airport in Anambra because i think Anambra airport will adversely affect my state's airport. It would have been understandable to many. But because you decided to throw silly and unfounded arguments thinking you were being smart by half, everyone in this forum truly think you are a mad person. Now let me remind you that when Owerri airport was being built in the 1990s, the same fears you have now about it killing Enugu airport was expressed. Year later, we now know that fear was unfounded. Likewise when Asaba airport was being built, the same fears that it would kill Owerri airport was peddled. Well, again after these years, we now know that fear was also baseless. Some people like you even said if Anambra and Ebonyi states were created, Enugu would stop developing and become a village. Again such silly mindset were found to be baseless. Owerri and Enugu airports have continued to increase in passenger volume since Asaba became operational, just as Enugu has continued to develop even with the presence of Awka and Abakaliki as state capitals. What people like you always fail to consider is that the economy and population ALWAYS GROWS and its not stagnant. What that means is that if Owerri airport had not been built, 90% of the people taking flights from Owerri to Abuja or Lagos would rather take a bus instead of the grueling 3 - 4 hours road trip to Enugu or Port Harcourt and then wait another 2 hours at the airport for the flight. They will be lucky if its not delayed or canceled. In effect, an airport being in Enugu with very terrible roads between Owerri and Enugu will not make them decide to fly. Human beings are rational animals, that is why your assessment is poor because you think people will do the same thing no matter the condition. Take a survey of people using Owerri airport today and ask them if they had used Enugu airport in the past when there was no airport in Owerri. An overwhelming majority will tell you they go via bus from Lagos to Owerri eachtime. They only fly now because there is an airport in Owerri. Meaning, Enugu will always have most of its passengers and the new area will build new clientele of people that will now decide it makes sense to fly and take a taxi home. Than travel another 4 hours after a flight. The reason Nigeria has never worked and will never work is precisely your mindset. That a whole country should have only one sea port, only one or two international airport, only one central police force, only one central government can build railways, electricity plants or even universities as they did until 1980! Imagine if you would have water in your house now if they passed their water resources bill to put the right to even drill borehole or get water at all into your home in the hands of the federal government! Back to the point, population determines how many airport should be adequate for an area. In fact many CITIES in the world with a population of up to 5 or 10 million have upwards of 3 - 5 airports! Do the research and find out. Now, the southeast region of Nigeria is about 29,000 sqKM with at least greater 35 million people living in it. If it were a country, it would be more populated than a country like Peru. Yet, for a population of 31 million people, Peru had 5 international airports and 60 domestic airports functioning at full capacity. Peru is not a rich country. Most people in southeast Nigeria have a higher standard of living than Peruvians. Your fears that Anambra airport will cause a slow down of Enugu is totally unfounded. Especially if they ply different destinations internationally. Creating competition is how serious countries develop. Nigeria loves inefficiency from creating monopolies precisely out of tribalism and primordial considerations. That is why Nigerians who leave the shores of Nigeria excel because at home the government ensures that nothing is allowed to function the way it should. Nigeria is the type of country where they have 50 students in a classroom, but instead of making sure the classroom has 50 seats, they will deliberately allow only 10 seats in the classroom. So that all sorts of corruption and vice will thrive among the students scheming how to capture a seat than how to learn. I truly don't think you are Igbo because an average Igboman is not afraid of competition. But if you are indeed from Enugu state, then you are a disgrace to the great people of Enugu state.

denmark that is a little bigger than Alaigbo has 8 airports |

Hahahaha evil owl is very much frustration about this Anambra international airport has destroyed you totally. See how you are now crying like a pussy cat in a whole. You had to wake up at 2am with so much tears due to frustration just to make a post. The question is why would any international flight fly to your Enugu airport that has short runway of 3km and leave Anambra that is 3.7km? Why would an average Anambra man land in another state and travel 50km to his destination in Anambra? Onitsha and Nnewi are not the only locations in Anambra, Anambra is vastly developed that most rural areas are habitable. Are you gonna compare ordinary Imo state that has no major economic activities to Anambra. Even a mad man knows that Anambra international airport would be the most viable airport in Nigeria aside Abuja and Lagos. Anambra has the largest middle and high income earners in Nigeria. Anambra equally has the lowest poverty rate in SE region and among the lowest in Nigeria. Yes, Anambra cities from Awka to Onitsha are the best in igbo land. Awka Millennium city alone beats every city in the east including your overhyped Enugu jungle. Do you have one covered drain in Enugu? No. But the entire city of Awka Millennium city has covered drains and well planned paved roads. EBS Boulevard Awka is wider than all the roads in your Enugu. Onitsha is the best planned city in the entire eastern region. Check your Google earth. Anambra is the most important state in SE. Anambra has the largest population and largest economy in SE. Which means Anambra is the best state by far in the region. Nnewi is the auto powerhouse of Africa. Anambra has most of the regional headquarters of the major manufacturing companies. Go to Onitsha Industrial Harbour to cure your ignorance. Anambra generally has the best road networks in the SE region. Anambra is the most developed state in the SE region. Anambra has the largest GDP in the SE. Anambra is to the SE what Lagos and PH is to the SW and SS respectively. Anambra has the lowest poverty rate in the SE region. Comparing Anambra international airport to Enugu airport is like comparing JFK airport to Nairobi airport. Just the tower building beats everything in Enugu airport. cheesy So mktinsight go and die, you have been defeated. [s] mktinsight:[/s] |

[s] mktinsight:[/s] U ARE WRONG. U ARE SO WRONG THAT I MAKE BOLD TO YOU THAT ANAMBRA ALONE WILL HAVE TWO AIRPORTS. ONE IN THE NORTH AT UMUERI AND ANOTHER ONE IN THE SOUTH AT ONITSHA. THIS IS JUST TO TELL U THAT THE AIRPORT AT UMUERI IS VERY VIABLE AND WILL DO VERY WELL. |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by hammerDK: 8:36am On Mar 19, 2021 |
THE ONLY REASON, Y WE MAY NOT BUILD AN AIRPORT IN ANAMBRA SOUTH, MAY BE BECAUSE OF THE ASABA AIRPORT. THE PEOPLE THAT BUILT THE ASABA AIRPORT, DID SO WITH ANAMBRA IN MIND AND PRECISELY ONITSHA. THE REASON UMUERI AIRPORT WAS BUILT, WAS ALSO WITH ONITSHA IN MIND. I AM FROM ANAMBRA SOUTH AND SOLUDO IS FROM ANAMBRA SOUTH, WE HAD ALWAYS ENVISAGED AN AIRPORT IN OBA OR ONITSHA AXIS. I NEED ACCESS TO THE NEXT GOVERNMENT IN ANAMBRA. |

You are talking to a demented hopeless frustrated fellow. Mktinsight is cursed, his mind is bitter that he failed to stop the project with his usual rants here. He thought nairaland is the airport site, so he devoted all his time here, when he finally started seeing the pictures rolling out he became jittery, desperate and mad. You don't need to enlighten him on anything because mktinsight is condemned to his misery. ChimaAdeoye: |

mktinsight:You can't be an engineer and talk like this. building sizes are calculated from floor spaces and not just from building dimensions. Someone like you can call 50 by 50 highrise a 2500sqm building. and by the way, the ground floor is still definitely larger than 3000sqm. Why? because the official length of the ramp was reported to be 560m and I guessed 500m initially. estimating from the image of the terminal WRT the ramp. you'll definitely arrive at something close to my previous figure. Stop trying to convince yourself to believe a lie. |

ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT SHOULD ACTIVELY CREATE A PLATFORM FOR JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN INDIGENOUS COMPANIES. I.E. INNOSON WASTE COLLECTION AND CHICASON, WASTE PROCESSING. WENEVER WE GET A JOINT VENTURE, A NEW COMPANY NAME IS GIVEN, BECOS A NEW COMPANY EMERGE. IF THE WASTE IS BUSINESS, THEN THE PRIVATE SECTOR SHOULD MANAGE IT AND GOVERNMENT REGULATE IT.

Rocksvibes234:IF THE RICH MEN IN ANAMBRA SLEEP ON THIS ONE, I WANT TO COME AND SET UP AN AVIATION FUELING STATION IN UMUERI AIRPORT. I HAVE THE CONNECTION BUT WILL REQUIRE LICENCE FROM ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH THIS BUSINESS IN ANAMBRA. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APPROVAL AS WELL. I AM TIRED OF POINTING OUT THINGS TO PEOPLE THAT NEVER WANT TO DO WELL. VERY SLUGGISH AND SLOW ABOUT EVERYTHING, WEN SOMEBODY ELSE DOES IT, JEALOUSY GO ENTER. I AM NOT JOKING HERE. I' M CONNNECTED TO AN OIL AND GAS COMPANY ABROAD, THAT ARE WILLING TO BE MY PARTNERS IN THIS INVESTMENT, BUT OFCOURSE, IN NIGERIA IT IS ALL MINE. |

I NEED TO KNOW WHETHER THE UMUERI AIRPORT IS CARGO MAINLY OR PASSANGER AIRPORT. WAT ARE THEY PLANING TO DO THERE? ANAMBRA IS ON THE MOVE AND WE NEED TO KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM. |

mktinsight:I had lived in anambra. Only the markets of onitsha are closer to Asaba, or even equal from the map. the residential areas of onitsha, especially areas where people are more likely to use the airports, such as GRA, Housing estates and so on are closer to the new airport. Also onitsha does not only sit by the niger. it expands deep with satellite cities such as ogidi into anambra. I know that many people who work at onitsha live in the inner towns. Only the markets are closer to Asaba. In fact, I was told that the government has relocated many markets deeper into Anambra to decongest the main market. So you get the point. Nobody travels from the markets. but from their homes. Also you forgot Awka, a large town as well. Anambra is growing into one single megacity so they need an airport centrally located and not at the boundaries of another city. I must say the airport is well located to be close enough to about 80% of residental areas in anambra. |

HammerDK, I think this Airport was built to your taste, the terminal building is not actually what you think previously, it's a might terminal, it also has a planned rail line for moving of cargoes to other states and many more If watch the video below from 12:00 where obiano spoke about some features of the airport https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAUwD1tMzFs hammerDK: |

Another good response. Mktinsight has mental problem, he probably thought everyone here is mentally challenged like him. Anambra is one vast developed state that people live even in their country homes and work in the major cities of the state because it has basic amenities in those country home areas. Anambra international airport is centrally located in the heart of Anambra. Faithful007: |

On the video obiano said that Anambra will be declared an oil producing state soon B4 he leaves office, he also talked about orient petroleum, With that aviation fueling will be a reality hammerDK: |

Post pictures with time stamps. These pictures could be from two, three years ago. Roads in Anambra are being fixed. Bad roads are everywhere even in the middle of Abuja. |
