Megumin barely managed to win, and by literally backstabbing the enemy when he wasn't looking... After which he was even almost dead... If this is the supposed potential Sukuna saw, I am not impressed at all...

The curse was A grade. Megumin beating that was quite impressive. Also the fact that he has one of the strongest techniques of the zen'in clan and now he can use a domain, something even Nanami cannot use, is what made sukuna smile. Also there is another possible reason why sukuna is hyping him but the anime hasn't reached that part. Maybe in season 2

Point is, so far he is still underwhelming... The domain is also underwhelming... He can use domain doesn't change the fact that Nanamin and Itadori will casually destroy him with one arm tied behind their back... But like you said, he will only get better, and I am sure he will get stronger, he did mention himself that the domain is incomplete....., but at the moment, Megumin is still lame AF
