Hello fellas,
I know this is a Nokia thread but I'm thorn in between 2 phones and would love sincere response towards helping me make the right choice.

The two phones are Nokia 5.3 vs Xiaomi poco m3. They both have similar specs but here are some differences

Nokia has a smaller battery 4000mah vs 6000

Nokia has 720p display vs 1080p for m3. I don't care about this though

Nokia shares the second sim slot with memory card

Nokia has a bigger ram 6gb vs 4gb

Nokia has a better camera quality based on reviews I've seen despite the m3 carrying a 48mp and Nokia carrying a 13mp.

So for those of you that have used the Nokia 5.3 how long does the battery last and with what level of usage? I feel it's possible that Nokia optimized the 4000mah for the 720p screen and will therefore may give as much usage time as 6000mah on a 1080p screen.

So with this little review, which of the two phones will you recommend?

I was in the same dilemma as you for over a month until 2 weeks ago.
in fact I spent days on gsm arena comparing and contrasting, watch YouTube videos, private chat some phone gurus I met here on NL and everything you have done plus more.

I lost my 3yr old Nokia 8.1 to quack fone engineers, in a bid to change the battery. Naso dem damage the board 4me.

That's by the way, I only mentioned it to legitimise my membership of the Nokia family and also let you know I have had a first hand experience with Nokia monster devices. it was a 4/64gb 4000mah devices.
May her soul RIP. cry

Nokia 5.3 Vs Poco M3 for me was simply a choice of Camera Vs Battery.

Firstly, forget about the 6gig ram, both devices will run any app with same speed and performance.

Secondly, If camera is a big deal for you, Nokia 5.3 is your best buy. However, if you ain't a mobile videographer or some camera psycho freaks. Poco M3 camera is as good as any other camera you can get in any 100k- devices in the market apart from IPhones.
In addition, with the help of gcam, your Poco M3 camera can replicate an iPhone resolution.

Thirdly, if you have a constant power supply in you area, you can settle for Nokia 5.3, otherwise Poco M3 is your best buy.

Power was a thing for me so I settled for Poco M3 and I can tell you for free that the battery is a monster.

After I got my delivery from Jumia, first thing I did was to fully charge to 100% and conduct my battery test.

I don't wanna turn this post to an epistle but Poco M3 was a better pick for me at the end, and so far it's better than my 8.1 in performance.

Well, 5.3 is still in my cart on Jumia so I might get it for someone in my household just to keep both within my reach lol.

My pick: Poco M3

I got it for N61,900 during Jumia Tech Week.

Goodluck.

N:B I was worried about the price difference of Nokia 5.3 on Jumia for 66k with the price on every other retail store I visited including slot and konga who all sold for N74k and above.
Also on the reviews, while many were happy with the 5.3 whom I perceived were paid reviews following thier pattern of comment. Few actually complained about the camera quality and 1 mentioned it might be a refurbished device for that price.

I'm so much grateful for this your review. You perfectly understand my dilemma. Just like you, I also did a lot of comparisons using different sites during the past one week.....

The price for 5.3 is quite strange and tempting because even on international sites the 4+64 variant of the 5.3 costs more than 4+64 of m3.

I'm worried about accessories for the m3. We're you able to get a pouch or tampered screen?

How long does the battery last on a full charge and how fast is the charger.

The price on Jumia den was a big concern for me, how come every other persons were selling 74k while a particular vendor on Jumia was selling for 66k, Probably refurbished. I couldn't risk ending up being Penny wise and pound foolish since I don't have 74k, Poco M3 became the Messiah for my budget.

Pouch and charger only.
No tampered screen.
Super Fast freaking charging.

Charged 3days after I got exhausted playing all the default games.(did this test without sim/data) just gaming.

Then did d second battery test (calls, data, hotspot on for full 2hrs) and charged the next day at 20%left.

I plan to do a 12hr movie test soon. Will copy 6 movies of 2hr duration each from my lappy.
Play them on shuffle with VLC, keep it on my table, go to work by 7am and return by 6pm to know what's left with the battery. undecided

When am done with that, it's over for you all. grin grin

Don't get the wrong idea @bolded

I purchased the 5.3 from jumia when it was still 74k
And during black Friday the price really dropped

Since review on Poco m3 has been dropped for you

Let me just drop small on Nokia 5.3

Battery life - trust me you will doubt yourself if it is really a 4000mah battery, it doesn't last as long as the Poco m3 obviously but you will know it is just excellent.

Display - every one has their preferences, but 720p on the Nokia is good enough

Ram - 6gb Anybody telling you a 6gb and 4gb ram will perform at the same rate is just lying to you, not discouraging you on the Poco m3, but the Poco has more system apps on that 4gb ram (bloatware) which I presume the accessible ram will just be 1-2gb, Nokia is a Android one device, no bloatwares, came clean, just Google apps, you have 3-4 gb available for you to play around with

Camera - I don't know of the Poco, but Nokia default camera app is wack, you solve this with Gcam and you will think that it's definitely not this device taking this shots.

Choose wisely

How can I choose wisely with this your review that is as convincing as the review of m3 by Ewizard

I'm also not bothered about the display and camera quality. Android one is clean and comes with regular updates like you rightly mentioned. The absence of bloatware is great.

As for the ram space, I'm not a gamer and I don't use heavy apps. My frequent apps are whatsapp, telegram, browser, and media players. Any of the two phones will multitask these apps smoothly.

I guess, at this point, the deciding factor for me will be battery power. I read on Nokia website that the 5.3 battery is optimized to last up to two days. Is it true. What is your battery experience like? Hope much on screen time do you getting a single full charge?

Also, I don't frequently change phones. I'm currently using an infinix Note 2 that I bought since 2016. There hasn't been a single fault with the phone since I got it. In fact I am changing it because it lacks 4g and the ram is poor.

summarily, if I want a phone to use conveniently for 3-4years, which of the two phones would you recommend?

3 days without a charge is massive but considering that you were not using data I wouldn't conclude on the battery power. How long per day were you playing the games?

The result of 12 hour movie test will be quite interesting. Do it tomorrow maybe
I appreciate your feedback bro. thanks

I hope to place an order on Jumia by tomorrow evening. My mind should be made up before then.

Nokia then

I think redmi give only 1 Android OS updates, that is Android 11 is sure for you

Nokia on the other hand gives 2 years update, Android 12 is sure for you
