one of the common mistakes that most watermelon farmers in nigeria do make is wrong timings I'll briefly dwell on this issue, when I said wrong timings I'm referring to the period that watermelon do flood the markets in nigeria please note that the north are the largest growers of watermelon in nigeria this is a region that uses rain as their source of water for farming activities and the onset of rain in this region is either April ending/early may at times even mid may and the time they do harvest their watermelon is mid June to mid July in this case if you don't want to harvest your watermelon during the glut period you will have to time well

You will time well by planting either march and harvest when they are yet to harvest or you will plant late and harvest when their produce have finished but this is only applicable to southerners

Let's say , it ripened & you harvest, and buyers aren't readily available how long could it stay without getting spoild.

Thanks, but will glyphosate not be injurious to the plants?

I think glyphosate drifts and the droplets can be injurious to the plant more so when watermelon is a crawling plant. How do you navigate the constraint?

Thanks

you are to apply the glyphosate before planting

Also what chemicals do you use to keep animals like squirrels and other herbivores away from the farm when the seedlings are quite young?[/quote] I use magic force or scorpion or dime force

when you feed your watermelon with the right fertilizers at the right time it will produce bigger balls than smaller balls and this will maximize your profits cause the bigger the ball the higher the price with pruning bigger balls can be achieved though it's painful and back breaking pruning simply means the cutting away of smaller balls and leaving the bigger balls
Can one interplant water melon with plantain
