Without doubt, if only half of the states in Nigeria are as progressive as Lagos, Nigeria would be a lovely place.

Though, I know all the cameras will be switched off. No be we again? They found a way around monitoring teams, they will find a work-around for this "camera oshi"

Innovative. Lagos taking practical steps to address concerns about the way uniformed officers on duty engage with the citizens.Thank you my Governor.

Please ensure the cameras you buy for this project are made in Nigeria cameras . This kind of initiative should not give rise to another round of capital flight. This is actually a big industry from hardware to the cloud computing etc. I think it should be private sector-led with ads or tax incentive for the investors.visit www.freestuffsng.com for latest freestuffs in Nigeria. The first part of your comment is so true. Reason why we say Lagos is a country on it's own.

You rehabilitate the individual first, then buy him the equipment. Equipping corrupt police officers does not change corruption and malpractice. The mindset of the Nigerian Forces is very backward so what they need is rehabilitation then a fresh training for all enforcement workers where the civilian is not an enemy, person to bully or abuse with the power vested in you.

The civilian's money is what pays these individuals so the civilian should be held highly and not lowly. The moment a police officer/soldier is told that he is more superior than a civilian, you have abused the civilian already by making him a subject to a man in uniform. They should be trained to serve and protect and not to kill and extort.

If you begin a system where a police officer is rewarded and considered for promotion based on his service to citizens instead of politicians, these people would change their areas of focus.
If the police had proper engineers, inventors, pilots, IT specialists, CSI lab techs etc....more cases would be solved and they would aspire to excel at their careers to advance in life. Instead they are used by their illiterate bosses at the top to serve criminals, show-offs, theiving politicians and alike.

Nigerian police don't even know gun types/classes, different types of shell casings and their manufacturers, how to mark a crime scene, assemble rifles etc. And that there is a big shame.

Those corrupt Lagos police and Lastma officials are already at their drawing boards working on how to undermine this procedure. These operatives used their position to extort motorists, impound & auction cars to themselves at the end of 2020 here in Lagos.

Exactly on 3-12-20, about a day after the governor went on an inspection of the 3rd Mainland bridge, I was involved in a case where a group of policemen, Lastma officials and their touts tricked us into taking a 'one-way'. My friend ended up paying 250k to Lastma to bring the car out of that their yard at Oshodi after one week. It was more than daylight robbery!!!

Unfortunately, it was only their words against ours. Many other people had same experience but some were lucky to get their cars out same day for as low as 40k.

I give it up for Sanwoolu. What should follow is a law that exonerates / protects motorists (and other citizens) unless there's substantial video evidence (of the circumstances) from these thieving operatives.

I've always been a fan of body cams, they should also get tasers, Tear gas, plastic strip for restraints, Police dogs, armored shields, Big budge for breaking down doors, Gas masks, smoke screens and many others for better policing and keeping our streets Safe!
