From the referee's angle, he wouldn't have seen it. I expected VAR to call for a review. If you watch the replays from the camera in the corner kick/throw in angle, you will see that Silva's right leg never made contact. It was his trailing left leg... And it never determined the outcome of the shot.

I don't even understand timbros' argument. Contact after the ball has been released makes the foul even more egregious. It is the very definition of a late tackle.

Wrong example.

The ball was later knocked back towards the Burnley attacker that crossed but couldn't continue because he had already been hacked down by KWP. That's a clear penalty.

Thiago Silva's was even a minimal contact that the West brom attacker must have shouted like someone shot at, to force the hands of the mumu referee.

Football is a contact sport, there are many instances in which referee will not even blow or blow without a card after a contact with a ball kicker. I will bring many gifs later when i am free.

It was a yellow card offence. He crashed into the guy after the ball had left his feet. It was a late and dangerous tackle which while not really reckless was at least unsporting and deserving of a yellow card. The fact that the ball was no where near the player when he hit him actually makes the tackle worse.

VAR calls for reviews only for OBVIOUS errors made by the referee. That was not an obvious error, and in fact was no error at all.

All i can say is that intent is not required for a yellow card to be brandished. The IFAB laws of the game are quite clear on this. The way Silva made the tackle was dangerous, and some might say reckless.
There will not be an uproar outside Chelsea circles about the decision. If the roles were reversed you would have been wondering why the referee didn't card the offender.

The more important issue is why should an experienced defender like Silva be making such rash decisions when he is already on a yellow card. Silva is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of a defender. Appears classy most times and then has these occasional brain farts that crop up at inopportune times. Reminds me a little of Joseph Yobo for the Super Eagles.

I just weak when I saw people complaining about TT starting Silva against West Brom. WEST BROM OH! Like, this was our easiest fixture left on paper. What better opposition could we hope for to ease a player who's coming from an injury layoff back into the team? Abi make Silva no kuku play again?!

Funny thing is, if Chris had started and made those same errors, we would have been asking, "why didn't Silva start?".

We have a huge UCL quarterfinal game coming up, and most of the regulars that played majority of the games for their national teams were rested, which is perfectly logical. The team that started yesterday is more than good enough to beat West Brom, even with 10 men. It was just one of those days.
