The MOM award is not given at the very end of the match. It is normally decided earlier something like 85 minutes.

If Dembele's goal had come earlier, maybe at 80 minutes, Dembele would have been awarded.

But his goal came at minute 90 when the award had already been decided.

To be candid, a part of me wants Madrid to lose out as per eternal rivals while the other part wants them to go through so as to maintain La Liga's reputation as a top league. So maybe I'd just accept whatever outcome of the second leg in good faith.
