Lol Matatus are mostly bought brand new. This not Ghana or Nigeria dafno. Nobody will invest in pimping Matatu - cost upto 30K usd - on old rickety body.

14 seaters are ex-japan - no longer licensed in Nairobi - and that is old one you can see - because they are not licesned - otherwise people would buy new ones.

The mini buses are brand new. They do crazy trips per day! They cannot waste a minute in garage broken down

You buy a brand new chasis - for 30-40k usd - and then spent about similar amount to build it's body and love-vendor it out.

Matatu is very serious business - they do daily return of upto 300USD - so in a week - you're doing 1500usd - a month - you're talking 6000USD

Most Matatus return within a year! You're talking about 60K USD per year.
