:PItshekiri Kingship Tussle-Edo remains a part of Yoruba kingdom likewise Itshekir How can we save ourselves from this self imposed confusion?? Listening to Chief Ayiri Emami and Chief Amaju Pinnick this morning on Arise TV got me worried. Both men were discussing the current Itsekiri succession Tussle Ayiri is maintaining that the Procedure enacted into law in 1979 must be followed. But many Itsekiris do not want to follow the procedure because a Particular provision in that Procedure will disqualify the People's candidate, a Candidate of their Choice. Briefly I am made to understand that the mother of a would be Olu must either be an Itsekiri woman or from Edo. But the Favorite candidate's mother loved by all has a Yoruba as his mother His own Father late Atuwatse II knew of this Proviso, yet went ahead to marry a Yoruba woman....that is my first source of confusion. Now his own Father became an Olu after this Edict was enacted in 1979 and ruled for about 28 years or so, he had all the connections to repeal that obnoxious proviso in that Edict, but refused to do anything about it , ...that is the second source of confusion. Then we are told that a would be Prince must be chosen by the Oracle of Ifa ....Yet Ifa Oracle is of Yoruba origin, an ancient Deity, and yet a Prince born by a Yoruba woman cannot be king, in a decision that will be taken by a Yoruba god??... Another confusion. Ayiri himself said in the video that he was told that the Ifa Oracle rejected him as the Ologbotsere, yet he successfully became the Ologbotsere and still is, ...and how did that happen?? Is he telling us that the Ifa oracular divination is a mere charade?? So what Place has Jesus Christ in the Place of the Itsekiri people in this modern age, with the likes of Pastor Ayo oritsejafor a former CAN President and with very many Christian Population, when it is an Ifa Oracle that will decide who will be their King instead of Jesus Christ?? Well I am getting more confused. Why enact a law in a matter that a deity will finally decide, or you want to use the law to arm twist the Deity?? But Truth be told Our system is a hybrid of a mess. We engage ourselves in 2 marriages. We called the English Traditional marriage as the '" white wedding" So after doing our Traditional wedding which allows a man to marry more than one wife and have concubines if he so desires, We repeat another "traditional" marriage of the English people that will make you marry only one wife....And so we are torn between the 2. We run the English legal system, while at the same time we keep another Customary courts. We elect kings given to us by the gods, only to subject them by laws given to us by the British Today all Nigeria kings are ceremonial...What Ifa has chosen today as a king can be dethroned and Banished by a mere mortal called Governor who is not even a member of that tribe tommorow. Our system, thoughts pattern need a total overhaul, we are not thinking straight at all. May the Almighty God of the Universe, see the Itsekiri people through this crisis and bless them abundantly by giving them Peace and enlarging their coasts in Jesus name. Amen.

That edict is Useless. It is like a coup against the Yoruboid Itshekiri. The Ifa a Yoruba deity defines who becomes Olu but son of a Yoruba won't be an Olu. Pls that's an Arrant nonsense. |

Even as an Igbo boy I know Itshekiri are yoruboid, so definitely Yorubas have an incontrovertible claim to the throne of Warri on the basis of the Itshekiri proxy. |

People are thinking forward and some people are thinking of grabbing tribes. How comfortable and happy are people in Yoruba land talking more of adding more to yourself! |

Ctorch:Ifa advises, its left for people to take Ifa's advice or not. In fact many selections these days don't include consulting Ifa at all and you end up with irresponsible personality on the throne. If Ifa also advised against the emergence of Chief Ayiri as Ologbotsere then it is already clear why you have him causing confusion. Ifá doesn't give false consultation The edict was a silly one. Itsekiri kingdom itself is one of the many Yoruba kingdoms so it makes no difference if mother is from Yoruba parts of Kogi or Yoruba parts of Delta An edict of 1979 has no basis on a throne that is over 500 years old |

Edo is a yoruba tribe, The itsekiris nobles should get their ass together and dethrone the Tsola of a king, and summon the spirit of the late king for questioning, probably he has an hidden son who made the requirement he was unable to speak about before is death.... The ifa idol should be sent out of that palace, that is sn edo stool and it will be a sacrilege for a yoruba idol to be dictating in an edo stool, ifa that couldn't even dictate for a yoruba royal stool when the edos and fulani came raiding their towns |
