When they were teaching you inflation in secondary school, you were busy eyeing girls in your class.

When currency is surplus, it loses value.
When diamond is surplus, it would lose value.

The reason why your 1000 naira is valuable is because it is scarce.
When it becomes surplus in the economy, it would lose value, and you would need more of the same money to buy goods, which means an increase in price of commodities.

The only country that can print anyhow to an extent is the United States.
The US dollar is used by every country in the world for international trade, so when the US govt pumps excess Dollars into the american economy, all the excess dollars does not remain there to cause inflation.

The excess dollars flows to other countries for use in their own respective trades and so the price stability in commodities in the US is maintained.

printing money will increase its stock in the economy, an increase in stock of money will in turn lead to inflation.

try to explain clearly and logically how printing more money will result in a rapid decline in the value of the currency.
if the government prints 5 trillion naira for instance and spend this money on infrastructure, agriculture, education and job creation, how will this cause the value of our currency to drop?
if government borrows 5 trillion naira it will be added to the total amount in circulation, an increase in aggregate supply without a corresponding increase in total output is dangerous to any economy. now take for instance government spends the 5 trillion on infrastructure and creating jobs, it simply means people will have more money to spend on the goods that are few(remember total output is stagnant) this will lead to inflation (increase in the general price level)

Up till when Gadaffi was killed, he proved economics wrong. He didn't borrow to run his country while he was in power. The country was one of the best countries in the world with good living standard and low literacy level.

You can do a little research before quoting me, please.

If Nigeria should start to mint her money today it will need good governance to back it up. If not na o.y.o case.

Lie economics.

Who created economics? Man, so you should know that it's based on perception and personal reasoning.

50% economic might be right the other 50% is for .......

Idk... huh huh cool cool cool

and what if the creation of jobs is done strategically to bring about the production of more goods?
and concerning the question asked by the creator of the thread, how is borrowing from another country better than printing our own money?

This isnt necessary. Op is asking a harmless question.

Upon all your analysis you didn't really answer the question the OP asked. Let me paraphrase the question for you:
If nigeria needs some money, why not print that money instead of going to china to borrow it (since either way more money will be pumped into the economy)?

It doesn't work that way mehn....it's not about printing money... It's about whats going on with the economy... Value have a major role to play here. If ur economy is flamboyant enough I don't think there will be need to borrow money from other countries. The problem lies with those at the top of affairs in this country.. When they keep stealing funds and saving these funds aboard, developing other countries instead of ours... That s one of the reason why we are still where we are since the 60s... If e shock u sorry oo
curency printing are regulated, excess printing can results to inflation. That's all

Do you think MONEY is synonymous with TOILET PAPERS.... or what?
Even Toilet papers are not made for Free.
Do u know how much it costs to print just a #100 Bill?
To print a 32page Nigerian Passport costs between 50-100US dollars.
U can verify.
Most things we receive from International communities are subsidized, since we produce NOTHING. I mean NOTHING apart from crude oil and YAMS.
In Fact, EDUCATION & HEALTH in Nigeria are Free.
To extract a Tooth in the US costs 1k dollars.
Meanwhile same procedure costs 7k in Naija using the same Machine.
Although it would have been far better if our politicians derive services from same Education & Hospitals.

PLEASE, it costs MONEY to print MONEY.
Materials are involved.
Machines are involved.
Manpower is involved.
Expertise is involved.
Power is involved.

All along I used to know we have NIGERIA printing and minting Company just like we have COCA COLA company.
But COCA COLA is not made in Nigeria.
Its tincture is prepared overseas and shipped to Nigeria for packaging, bottling and distribution.

That's why it's called the NIGERIAN BOTTLING COMPANY...
I will verify.

Money is a store of value. Money is also a medium of exchange. If your economy is not valuable it's pointless printing money because no one would want to transact business with you. For instance when they sell a car to you in exchange for naira that has no value, the money becomes useless to the seller because he cant exchange it for something valuable in the market. Going by this you will have a scenerio whereby there will be surplus of naira in the market, when there is surplus of money the value of the money will drop and price of thuings will increase to accomodate the surplus cash. So in conclusion it's about the value of the money, as in the exchange power.

Read what I wrote again.

Nigeria already print money.
But Printing the kind of money you would need to replace Chinese loans would be too excess on the economy.

Inflation.

What happens if everyone in your village has 10 million naira? Will the butcher still want to be a butcher? What about the shoemaker? And even if they did won't they charge more knowing that everyone in the village has money?

If you print more money it will turn ordinary paper without value. 1 dollar will turn N20,000 which means a $100 Tecno phone will now be sold for N200, 000 instead of 36,000

lol Libya is one of the oil richest countries in the world in the same level as Qatar and others. They don't need to borrow anything since they never had abacha, babangida who looted trillions of dollars. If our politicians didn't abscond with our revenue we wouldn't have had to borrow since we have something valuable to exchange to foreign countries

i don't think the cost of printing is the problem.
Not just the COST.
The Financial Restrictions and International standards that govern printing especially by the United Nations also plays a major role..
Else Nigerian Politicians will head straight to the CBN like those going to polling booths, demanding for specifications and preferential treatments.

While some of the things you said is true, it is so irrelevant to this context!

Normally, to produce an economic output, labour, capital, and prices of labour and capital are factored in the equation.
To increase the quantity of output, there's going to be a slight change (mainly, in the variable cost).
So, the bogus cost you're imagining is not valid.
