They should disqualified the three prince's, and the olu should be questioned dead or alive why he deliberately married all Yoruba women knowing fully well, that confusion may arise

The three prince should be disqualified and the iyasere steps in for the awaiting future prince,

All the princeses should find a benin or itsekiri lady as a bride to qualify their children for the throne, as their time has passed

You can't alter a law because of selfish interest laws are ment to be guided and respected the olu didnt respect such laws that gave him the stool
My brother please leave them alone. If they decide that, it is way to go by electing or choosing Emiko, son of an Itsekiri man and Yoruba mother, will bring peace to the Kingdom so be it.
The only question I want to ask Ogungbemi is "who enacted that law of 1978? Why was it enacted? Why is now they want to change it?" These are questions becking for answers.

Ogungbemi01:
The controversy surrounding the Itsekiri kingship tussle has been finally put to rest as 99.5% of Itsekiris insist that the controversial edict which disqualified a prince whose mother is not from Edo origin does not emanate from the people and should be totally discarded. They insist that they are Yoruba speaking people in Delta State who have no relationship with Bini people. They wondered why an edict should be made to exclude the parent tribe that gave birth to Itsekiri. All Itsekiri communities migrated from Yoruba. It is therefore against our interest to disqualify prince Shola on the basis of an edict that was made for selfish interest to narrow the search for an Oluto a particular person they had in mind. What Itsekiris have demostrated is that the people are bigger than the controversial edict. Prince Tsola Emiko whose mother is Yoruba has been chosen as Omoba elect. Congratulations.

The Itsekiri themselves, all agree that their monarchy was started by Benin prince and sons of Benin nobility and the dynasty has not changed, so what's your point.

I don't see the argument, wherever the mother of the new Olu comes from doesn't change the fact that the Itsekiri throne remains Benin because the father will always be a descendant of Benin. In Nigeria, your ethnicity is based on your father's tribe. What many of you also forget is the young Olu elect has Benin influence and sympathy written all over is ascension. He is an inlaw to a prominent Benin son, captain Hosa, who he also worked for and Captain Hosa is closely connected to the Benin Palace. The current Oba of Benin, as the heir apparent and Edaiken of Uselu was the royal father of the day in the traditional wedding of this Olu elect and daughter of billionaire Captain Hosa.

Lastly, that is not to say his position will not be challenge in court because of the existing edict which hasn't be repealed or amended.

Whatever happens, Itsekiri throne will continue to remain Benin because it's from father to son and as long as the dynasty from Benin that started the monarchy hasn't changed.

Can you imagine such nonsense coming out from you, since the benin royalty has been ruling is now they know they are Yorubas and they should be led to rule

Wether they like it or not, the royalty is of edo
origin and they can never fight it, no silly
Yoruba should near that stool, the heir to the throne must have a Bini or an edo bloodline through the mother to effectively continue the stool

gregyboy:

Law are meant to be respected and not threaded upon because of selfish intrest reasons why we dont respect laws in the country because the top people like the olu who made such laws would still step on it, if this olu is not thought the lesson of disobeying laws, the future kings will do worse

And again there is no ifa in benin monarchy so remove that nonsense yoruba idols that couldn't save their people when Benin came raiding their people lands and installing their king

That ifa should be thought laws and principle or should be burnt and deserves not to be an idol in the royal palace of a Benin derived stool at all,

So whatsoever ever the ifa idol would pronounce would surely be false as it originally configured to favour yorubas,

Ifa has no right to choose in a benin
monarchy my stance remain same the three prince should be disqualified and iyasere steps in as replacement Untill the prince's children makes the qualification

They used it to narrow the search to the particular person they had in mind and arrogated so much powers to he Rewane who was the then Ologbosere. We have reviewed the document and discovered that it is self serving and not in the interest of Itsekiri people. We have trashed the edict and that is final. Section 4 of the edict is the singular reason we trashed the edict. It is very insultive to our parent tribe. We are speaking a Yoruboid language and the said Ginuwa is from the lineage of Oramiyan. You will recall that Ugborodo people wanted to install Olaja Orori Benson Omadeli as King of Ugborodo recently. The reason is because Ugborodo people never accepted Ginuwa as their king from beginning and the sentiment is still there. Because we are speaking the same language, we try to cover it any time the issue arise. You can't tell me who I am. I should be the one to tell you who I am. The Olu cannot rule in Isolation. Young man, your royalty in Bini is of Yoruba ancestry, reason Itsekiris picked Ginua in the first place. The person opposing Prince Tsola also has Yoruba mother. It's very easy for Yorubas and Itsekiris to intermarry.

You should be contented with your about 4 LGA in Bini, whose many are also being occupied by Yorubas(who also provide Bini monarchy), Itsekiris(who gave relevance to Bini as kingdom) and Ijaws.

Instead of all this cyber noise, you can also travel down to Warri's palace and remove the new Olu as you're a strong-headed igodomigodo boy...

Who said bini stool is from Yoruba royalty, dont tell me you belive that political made up false history which started after 1914 to unite edo as Yoruba

As a matter of fact no Yoruba monarch historically derived their stool from ife to begin with no to say edo from a different ethnicity, the story of ife deriving the various Yoruba royal stool, started by samuel Johnson in his book "history of youruba" Samuel j, falsely united the yorubas into one ancestry from ife, so as to stop the Yoruba continuous war against themselves and embrace each other as brothers

The bini history which has an input of Oduduwa tales is false, and was integrated into benin history to political unite edos as yorubas during the formation of the early country called Nigeria, infact Oduduwa myth belongs to the Yorubas alone and has nothing to do with benin or her history, the benin royal stool is completely of edo origin and should not be mixed up with the petty lies from the political mixup of false unification made from the early formation of the country

I know you dont know anything about what i just wrote up there, but visit my profile for more information

I think what itsekiris need is a demographic/population boost from Southern Yorubaland.
They are being bullied in their own kingdom by slightly larger neighbours because they are at a demographc disadvantage.....

By the way... Ondo and Delta share a direct border... why is there no direct road linking the two states yet? (Hmmn, just checked my map, and the terrain looks impossible).... More Ikales and ilajes need to migrate to Delta and blend in with the Itsekiris.

The ijaws are doing it with their creek camps in Edo and Ondo State, the Yorubas should do the same.

If you cast a news in Yoruba language in Itsekiri area, every body will understand what the news caster is saying . Likewise if the news is read in Itsekiri. They connive with some self centered Itsekiri leaders to produce the vexecious edict. Omadino people are from Ode in Ogun state while Ugborodo people are from Ugbo in Ondo state. How will you convince Omadinor people that a child born by their sister from Ogun state is not qualified to sit on the throne in a kingdom where they are major stake holders? How do you also convince Ugborodo people who are the highest oil producers in Delta State that their sister from Ondo state cannot give birth to a king to rule over their land? In fact the edict is very annoying to our people. No body want to hear it. The people have trashed the edict.
Well done. I am from Ogun state. The Itshekiris are our brothers.

Whenever a Person reads the Story of how Itsekiri ended up in Bendel State and the Midwest , together with the 1979 Anti-Yoruba edict it always looks like it was part of a Plot to Punish Awolowo and his Party.

There was an Olu of Itsekiri that had a Portuguese mother so why would having a Yoruba Mother disqualify a Prince if here is not something else behind it ?

The same thing happened in Old Kwara State that is now Kwara and Kogi States.

The Itsekiri are right to insist that the 1979 Edict is unconstitutional and they pointed out that section 42(2) of the constitution further provides that; “no citizen of Nigeria shall be subjected to any disabilities or deprivation merely by reason of the circumstances of his birth.’’

All I read here are the Yorubas displaying their usual ignorance of history.

During the creation of Edo and Delta from old Bendel state, the then olu of Warri tried to lobby the Oba of Benin for Warri to be part of Edo state, one of the emissaries that was sent to Benin is chief Lori Ogbebor, the Itsekiris around here should know who Lori Ogbebor is.

According to chief Ogbebor, some Edo people didn't like the idea and lobbied the Oba of Benin against it for reasons that wasn't disclosed.

When all the traditional rulers and notable politicians met with then president Babangida, the Oba told the president that Warri should remain in the yet to be created Delta state.

The Olu of Warri remains of Benin origin irrespective of where the mother of the new Olu comes from.

The Olu elect works for a Benin billionaire, who he married his daughter and the present oba of Benin as heir apparent was the royal father of the day during his traditional marriage in Benin city few years ago. The Olu elect has Benin sympathy written all over his selection.
