If his assertion is that Igbo people are disproportionally smarter than other tribes in Nigeria, then we should see it in their region. No government since independence stopped Igbo from selling shoes and whatever they can make or manufacture. Let them turn Igboland to Dubai or Taiwan.

As a matter of fact, Igbo leaders have had good share of leadership in Nigeria since independence via Azikwe and from 1999-2015. Igboland is very similar to the Asian Tigers in terms of productivity and individual can-do spirit.

Aba mass produces consumer goods in commercial quantities that are used all over Nigeria and beyond. Shoes, bags, and clothes of all types among others are being produced in the city. Even in engineering, Aba is famous too, supplying most of the needs of the region (SE and SS) and beyond. P.H gets its equipment and repairs in Aba! During COVID 19 lockdown, Aba also supplied some of the materials used in the Anambra airport!

Nnewi is the home of auto manufacturing in Nigeria as well as motor spare parts.

Onitsha is also a home for mass production of household goods.

Now you gave example with Taiwan, but your brain did not tell you that Taiwan is semi autonomous and does everything it wants except in some areas like international diplomacy that China tries to muzzle them. Let Igbos have same autonomy like Taiwan and see if you guys will see their backs again.

Ben Bruce is very correct. I did my Industrial attachment in Onitsha some years back and I was conversant with Ochanja, fegge axis because I was living along louis mbanefo street. The compound I was living had many shops and in almost all the shops which are quite small in size, you would see them producing things making use of crude tools/methods. If government have come to assist and empower these real producers of goods. These country would have gone beyond this. Discrimination, nepotism, biasness, intolerance, suspicion and tribal hatred has made this country to be backward. Every region has what they are good in and should compliment each other, but technology is in a class of his own. Would Nigeria ever be great? that is if Nigeria would still be. Which states exactly are more developed than Igboland? Can you name them?

When you use money gotten elsewhere to develop only your own areas while a abandoning others, do you know how the multiplyer effect will be a drag on the development of those places you abandon?

There is almost zero federal presence in Igboland, even the federal roads we have here are all death traps eg Enugu/P.H, Enugu/Onitsha, Aba/Ikot Ekpene etc but in the North, all the federal roads are built to standard.

They send thousands of policemen and army to mount roadblocks every few meters and be extorting motorists on a daily basis but in the North where their services are needed most, you won't find them.

There is a limit to what one can do on individual basis when the central government that control everything works over time to keep them down.

Even the governors in Igboland are more loyal to Abuja than those they're supposed to be serving since they know that one idiot can wake up one and ask the supreme Court to remove him on baseless reasons. If we are semi autonomous like Taiwan and control all our affairs, then we will be able to have more responsible state governors that will either work 100% or be removed by the us.

TAIWAN is semi-autonomous territory. South East is not.

Is China stopping manufacturing advancement of Taiwan? No! Rather they're contributing to it.
