Is Blogging Still Profitable? by Elonmuskfan: 2:37pm On Mar 28, 2021
There are hundreds of thousands of blogs in Nigeria. Most rarely have even one single comment at the end of the article. When i stumble on them, I usually wonder if the owner is breaking even or meeting his expectations, or even seeing any tangible money.

I would like to know if blogs can generate >50k a month. Or how long it would take to do that, and the necessary things to put in place to achieve that before I venture into it.

Let me enlighten you.

Blogging is and will continue to be profitable.

It takes work, Yes. But that's a small price to pay considering you'll be earning forex passively.

Heres how to win

Spend time identifying low competition niches, they're everywhere I must add. From household items to pets and lifestyle you can find your space by niching down even further.

What is 50k naira in a month for a serious blog? My first successful blog made $750 when I monetized it after 6 months. The 7th month generated more than $1000. But do not take my word for it. Blogging is work, serious work. I own 4 blogs now even though I'm yet to monetize two because they do not yet have enough content.

Blog comments are not as important as blog ranking. Your target should be to get your blog in front of as many people as possible. When you have say, 20k-30k daily views, there is no way you won't earn $1000 monthly for a well monetized blog if you did your homework well. What homework are we talking about?

1) Be sure that your niche is monetizable
2) Niche down, don't go too broad or competitive too early
3) Be sure that you do not spam your links. I see some of you post your blog links on Nairaland. That's disaster waiting to happen. Make all your traffic organic. It helps you to split test effectively and understand what's working without getting confused with unnatural traffic.
4) Grow your traffic organically through QUALITY content.
5) Understand that people come online to get useful actionable content. Produce that and you'll see quality monetizable traffic.
6) Be patient if you've done all things well. A good blog would give you full time income in 3 years if you're taking things easy. That's $15,000/month

Disclaimer:

My example is atypical. Blogging won't make you rich overnight. I worked day and night with many sleepless nights to accomplish that. It may take you 4 years if you didn't work as hard, but if you have quality content on your blog, you'll get there. Do not believe anyone that tells you you'll make money in even one year. Money is a function of work and the quality of work you put into your blog.

Comments don't buy stuff Bro.

Blogging is still very profitable despite competition.

It's just that many bloggers don't make money but a few do make tons of money.

You can make over 50k monthly on ur blog, however there are conditions.
1. Consistency in posting relevant content
2. Fully optimized contents
3. Monetise ur contents.
4. Spend money if need be for traffic so that u can get faster results.

Finally, this should be the first. Blog around an evergreen niche with many products u can sell through your blog.

Blogging is very profitable even in 2021, I make a full time income blogging, I started a blog in 2018 and the blog now makes more than 6 digits monthly. To succeed you need to do the following:
1. Pick a good niche ( do your research)
2. Do or pay for keyword research to get blog topics.
3. Write good contents or outsource it to good writers.
4. Target to write atleast 60 well researched articles in the first 3 months.
5. Keep updating your blog with good content monthly and in 8 months you will begin to see good results organically.

Blogging needs continuity and patience. I am not a professional, just talking from experience.

Yes it is.

But not many have the dedication, patience, knowledge and skill to reap the fruits of blogging.

Hosting a WordPress site or buying domain names for a free blog.spot account is cheap and easy. Unfortunately, creating a blog is easy but populating it with useful content is the task.

Blogging is a job, it's a business venture and shouldn't be treated as anything less.

Firstly, you'll need to sharpen your writing skills.

Secondly, you'll need to learn SEO. Being a good and prolific writer isn't enough. You need free traffic from search engines and only SEO can give you that.

Thirdly, you'll need to learn social media and digital marketing to promote your content. Also, it will help you monetize your blog. It's one thing to have high traffic to your blog and it's another thing entirely to make as much cash as possible from the traffic.

Fourthly, you need to have a good personality and networking skills. Backlinks are the major criteria Google uses to give 'authority' rating to blogs. Guest blogging is also a good way to gain reputation and traffic for your blog. Without a good personality and networking skills it will be possible to get backlinks and guest blogging slots.

Finally, you need money. At least you will need money for webhosting and domain name. You'll also need money to feed yourself and buy data before your blog starts bearing fruits. You'll also need money for adverts and hiring content writers.

That said, as a beginner try to do the heavy lifting yourself, don't let money do the heavy liftings for you.

Before I drop my keypad, you also need a strong passion for writing.

I hope this helps.

P.S: follow these blogs if you want to learn blogging the right way;
