After Ngara 1,400 unit housing - comes another - Affordable Housing in Nairobi - 2,000 Units.

These will be 32 times 15 floors - that is already bigger than ACCRA sad and Abuja. And we are building 500,000 such units in the medium term. By the time we are done JOBURG will be dead - and Nairobi will be going toe to toe with CAIRO.

dumb kid from Africa's slum capital.

Everywhere in Ghana is livable and you receive the same superior quality of life.

Do you know that Accra alone consume half the electricity consumed by the entire Kenya ? grin grin grin

That is super living standards expressed in power consumption.

Carry your little backwater kenya to compare with fellow undeveloped places that are poverty stricken in east and central Africa.

That is where you belong

grin grin

800 megawatt consumed in Accra, that is half the electricity consumed in all of kenya.

The pokuasi bulk Supply Station will soon double that to 1600mw, bringing consumption in Accra alone to the electricity consumed in all of kenya. grin

5 million people will be consuming more electricity than 53 million people in Kenya very soon.

Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 8:52am On Apr 22, 2021
Nairobi consume roughly half of kenya power - that now around 1000mw.

Now forget about this MW - If you really want to know how much power is consumed - find out GWH.

And for Ghana - remove the 200MW plus for gold smelting - and 200MW by VALCO for aluminium smelting - that is already 400MW.

What actually get supplied to household - who use it to power their AC - something you don't need in Nairobi is about 70%.

You're spending maybe 10-15 units of power per day per household to just keep yourself sane (cold) - but Kenya we have nature to thank for that. I saw Africa Traveller sweating like a pig in the Ghana heat. Pass the poor guy a water satchet please smiley

And you're here celebrating.

The energy beast that is about to double Accra energy consumption, will come on stream next month.

keep assuming,

Power consumed in Kenya is 1800mw on a good day but most times, it is around 1700mw.

Noise and excuses as usual.

5 million people are consuming half the power consumed by 53 million people in Kenya. grin grin

That is how terribly undeveloped your country is
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 9:09am On Apr 22, 2021
Very tiny. I thought you were excited about something big. I see it 330KVA - but looks very tiny - with small land.

Kenya has 400KV substations
1) Suswa being biggest in kenya and possibly in the region outside South Africa - connecting to Ethiopia's grid - to receive 400MW
2) Isinya the 2nd biggest.

Why would consume so much power when a typical household just need it for 3 hours of lighting at night - and to power TV/fridge? Our priority is to get everyone to access power - and power reliability.

We don't have to power an AC smiley like you do.

Actually Suswa Substation Complex; hosts the largest converter station in Africa. - Pokuase sit on 1 acre smiley

The substation sits on a 300-acre piece of land and serves as a connection point for six (6) double circuit transmission lines. The Lines are:

220kV Olkaria II – Suswa line
220kV Olkaria 1AU – Suswa line
220kV Olkaria IV – Suswa line
220kV Suswa – Nairobi North line
400kV Suswa – Isinya line (currently operated at 220kV)
400kv Loiyangalani – Suswa line (currently operated at 220kV)
The substation operates at three different voltage levels: 500kV HVDC, 400kV and 220kV. The lines are for grid stabilization, transmission line extension and regional power interconnection.

Already the 220kV station is energized and operational. The construction of the mega 500kV converter station is complete and pre-commissioning tests are currently ongoing.

you are dumb

That is why your country is so dark.

A house needs power 24/7 and you need to supply as much as they can consume so you don't inconvenience them.

Just say kenyans are poor and can only afford to power one bulb in their shacks for 3 hours.

Since you are so ever ready to get rid of fossil fuels, when will kenyans be rich enough to use induction cookers ? grin cheesy

Getting everyone to access an unreliable power that is not enough for everyone in kenya is the way to go.
But you guys need to invest get rich and invest in more generation.

Lagos state alone consumes 2000mw plus and gets what, it has 21 to 24 million people.

All the house in Kenya uses AC except for people like you who live in shacks and slum scrappers without windows as you would like to call those.

it doesn't need much land when you are investing in the latest power technologies.

Kid you are funny and bumb
You call that small thing that will carry only 400mw as the largest outside SA?

Then what would I call the Pokuasi BULK station that will carry 1600mw of power?

Even the Kasoa BULK supply station is more capable than any of the shit you mentioned above, because it carries more load.

When it comes to power consumption and power supply, your country is an inexperience match for GRIDCO
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 9:30am On Apr 22, 2021
How can that tiny thing carry 1600MW of power. You will get daily DUMSOR. The problem with your power sector - you don't have power company maintaining your network.

Yes compared to kenya - you did well not have monopoly in power distribution

But you lack something like KETRACO -who job is to plan, design, construct, own, operate and maintain the nation's high voltage electricity transmission grid and regional power.

So you are going to be getting a lot of DUMSOR.

Your little 1 acre substation cannot hold a transformer like this...

400/220kV 200MVA Transformer arriving at Mariakani substation site. Upon completion, the substation will step up voltage along Mombasa – Nairobi transmission line and evacuate power from Dongo Kundu LNG plant.

It is called Technology, it uses the latest power supply technology available to the distribution services of the world.

Unfortunately kenya is too poor to afford something like that.

The only country that gets daily dumsor is kenya, because electricity available is not enough in your country.
And your country distribution network is not advanced enough.

Your ketraco engineers were taught by GRIDCO engineers on how to manage a distribution network, including others from Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia,Tz and co.

Good if you have GRIDCO - what I cannot understand is why they waited until the network collapsed. As for your one acre substation - good luck with that.

You are poor and haven't seen much outside your shack.

All the Ghanaians who have been to you country know that AC Is extensively used.
All the places where nappie stayed, use AC.
Same for Wode Maya.

In fact all the furnished real estate videos from your country have either the Split AC unit of the indoor ones.

Over 43,000 AC units are sold in your country every year.

We are turning our Sowetto like low rise gov owned houses into high rises. I don't think after Nairobi has delivered say 100,000 units - Any Sub Sahara City will come close in terms of the size of the city. 500,000 units - that is huge - and that city of 2m people.

We are demolishing 17,000 Soweto like houses - so we can deliver more than 100,000 units. Phase alone will deliver 70,000 units.
