You made a very important and crucial point i.e. the fact that IPOB currently stands as the only non state actor standing against the threat of islamists that are trying to overrun West and Central Africa. The UK and other Western countries/world bodies are now probably realizing the need to encourage such non state actor in any way they can.

It's a massive diplomatic truimph by IPOB over Nigeria and could be the beginning of a paradigm shift that would lead to Nigeria's eventual break up.

I think this has to do with power changing hands politically. If you study the involvement of the brits around the world, you will see that they often put together strange bed fellows to milk money out of them. If UK have recorded a tangible persecution against IPOB it should be more reasonable if UK should clearly support IPOB's agenda knowing fully well that people have a right over their ancestral land and decide where to belong.
