33k views is a lot. That should have given you at least 500$ to 1k+$ if you are on good niche.

Some niche CPM are just terrible and does not worth monetizing via Adsense affiliate offers or sponsored posts/videos should be more profitable.

Again, your watch times says a lot. Around measly 80hrs of watch time from 33k views shows either your videos are very short or people are not watching enough.

This is a response to a thread where someone is asking if blogging is dead

please don't contact me am not ready to share my mail or phone contact

Let me introduce my self : A Graduate from UNIBEN, searching for work after graduation from Lagos to Abuja, spent over 2 years submitting CV. Even tried PH,had to give up.
I recently opened this username for reason, let's leave this story for another day.

I am a seasoned YouTuber for years where I make videos and all sort, earning month to month doing reviews and the rest.

But in the past 2 years and few months I have dived into blogging to test the ground and i must tell you blogging is not dead.
It depends on your approach, there are over 3.5 searches done on Google on daily basis and it's increasing day by day.

I was recently paid few days ago and below is my earnings from a blog.

When you mentioned blogging or blog what comes to the mind of most Nigerians is Linda ikeji the celebrity blogger who just occupies a tiny space or niche , I always refer her as a gossip blogger.
Blogging is far More than that. blogging is broad, from medical, tech, finance, fitness which are broad niche to micro or sub niche like dating, fishing, sewing, swimming, recipes, parenting, cars, motorbike, wine, bear etc. I could list over 200 sub niches.

Here are some comment on that thread

Blogging has come to stay and it goes beyond gist or gossip which linda ikeji popularise.
I earned close to 2m plus this month.

Yes blogging takes patience, a blog should pick up from the 7th month , if everything is done right by the blogger then traffic should be coming in from 7th to 8th month as at the time of writing this post then the peak period should be 24 months.

Most successful blogger are on nairaland and I have contact with a few who i connected with to share some ideas though some choose to comment on thread and shy away from discussion on earnings etc.
There is a guy here whose sitz makes 4000 USD daily. shocked

Linda ikeji blog is not dry in fact she makes millions of naira in a single day from adsense. I can't say how much she earns but believe me she got an insane traffic that can guarantee more than 15,000 USD a single day.. Believe me she might make more than this. Most of her readers are Nigerians in diaspora who wants to know gist back home.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/13440392_img20210424030721_jpegcde9c4890b3d150370bca6286bee8293

I got to know that via some tools, which shows that more people a from abroad gets news from there.

Nigerians are not lazy, Nigerians are great people with best brain only the society and our leaders are making us look dumb.

I know a Nigerian that makes 25k to 30k USD monthly on apps from play store.

You should understand that a sole aim of going into business is not to laugh.. See I don't blog for passion rather for money. That's it

Blogging is saturated.
There is room for everyone. Believe me. Blogging at the moment is not saturated. In fact Google once made it clear that over 30% of search quarries are something that haven't been searched before and over 3.5 billion searches are done daily.

The key here is identifying those searches and picking the ones that are not talk about on any site or few sites. Avoid the most competitive ones as a starter.

To earn high, don't target Nigerians as advertisers in Nigeria are not willing to pay as high when compare with USA, UK, Australia, Canada, etc.
If you get 2 thousand page views daily you can get approximately the payment paid up there.

Picking your fight at the weakest point is your chances of success. Finally Avoid copy and paste

I believe that you earned that as i have seen someone who showed his earnings in a video but earnings are from youtube.

Can you mentor me? I would love to learn. I know basics like how to buy domain, and set up wordpress and post content.

It's possible if you target low competitive keywords.

Remember that this kind of blog is usually lengthy and not the regular naija kind of blogging u know.

"is eba sweater than honey" if u write a lengthy post on this like 1500 words. Google will rank u first page because no one talks about it except u

Adsense is the key and should not be kicked aside, there are others that pays higher like ezoic, adtrive,Medianet etc . Most guest post ask for do follow links which I find not really my thing. Although some might like it.

There are other ways to earn like affiliate which I intend diving in soon... What do you think about vpn niche where each affiliate commission comes monthly as long as your referer keeps subscribing

I just deposited my own affiliate check this morning. The VPN niche for the US market is saturated and difficult to break into.
If you want to localize it to Nigeria, maybe you can make money from it.

I am 100% affiliate marketing. Build a niche-based, like Best of ...... and Product Comparison and Product Review. Targeting the US market, you can do $4000 to $8000 a month. Currently monetizing with info products and physical products. No Adsense yet.

Of course Blogging is not dead, most of us want to become the next Linda Ikeji by just copying and pasting other peoples content.

There is no way on earth you will make money like that.

If you are serious about blogging, you should know the following

1. You need to understand SEO
2. You must do keyword research to know if the content you are writing is being searched by people
3. You must be creative
4. Do not do copy and paste
5. If you won't be original or you won't get access to breaking news do not do gossip and entertainment blogs , some top blogs have already dominated that niche and they pay people to source for content, it will be hard to beat them
6. You need to be consistent
7. You need access to the right tools
8. You need to look for other ways to monetize your blog
9. You need a good hosting
10. Be ready to do marketing, infact spend 80 percent of your time marketing and 20 percent of your time creating content
11. You need a mentor

@op although your screenshot looks suspicious; you earned nothing throughout the month of April. But I believe making money from blogging is very possible.

For some ad networks, 1000 page visits gives an average of 10$. There was a time I even saw a epmv from Australia at around 100$! I was shocked. P.s: this is Ezoic which pays per 1000 visits instead of CPC like Adsense.

Tbh, if you want to rack in dollars from blogging, the best bet is to target us, uk, Australia, Canada and other top tier countries.

It’s going to be hard; yes, I mean researching Content about things you don’t know, but at the end it’s going to be worth it.

Initially, I fooled myself going after passion and was blogging about Nigeria. But i found out it’s not lucrative and giving me the life I desire. Yes, people make money blogging for Nigerians, but you’d make much more doing so for us and other tier 1 countries!

And for folks who are questioning the authenticity of the thread due to the age of the blog; what I’d say is that it’s totally possible. I know a blog that was formed 2020 and now makes around 4000$ monthly from Ezoic. If you want proof, I’d give you link and you’d check his twitter; he’s actually transparent about it.

from the little I learned from the white man, the key is to target underserved niches or areas that are low competitive and have a good search volume. What’s more surprising is that he’s blog doesn’t even have too high DA. And he has about 260 posts from the last time I checked his sitemap.

Making tons of dollars from blogging is super real. But the question is not if it’s possible but are you willing to put in the work, toil, sweat, blood and grind? Tbh; it’s not easy. There are times I cry internally, not seeing my posts on first page after taking lots of time to write over 3000 word unique articles. Patience is key, and consistency with quality is everything.

You should understand that the Nigerian government needs foreign remittance, they lack dollars right now, they are bringing in policy that encourages people to sell fx to the bank rather than black market.

https://nairametrics.com/2021/03/06/cbn-introduces-naira-4-dollar-scheme-for-diaspora-remittances/

When next you go to the bank, tell them you want to exchange, don't withdraw it, they might give you a transfer form, from there you can transfer the fund and they pay you higher.

Please accept all I said with open mind and carry out extensive research.

Check your traffic sources. Are you sharing your post on social media? Like Facebook, twitter or even nairaland.

If you do this and your site traffic from search engines is low than traffic received from this other sources then they will limit your account.

Stop sharing your content now and activate amp for WordPress, now activate the mobile them and dont force redirect desktop to mobile. Next place your ads code on the amp pages alone, when search engines pick the amp pages only ads will get displayed to organic viewers.

Keep this till ur ads is restored, and at lest more 4 months untill your url is removed from the flagged zone

This will best if majority of your traffic comes from mobile

In fact, $5000 was his goal the last time we spoke.

It depends on what you are blogging, your target audience, the level of competition, luck is there also, your level of research.

I don't do news, or something that makes me write everyday. Each of my post respond to certain search quarries that are extremely low competition and such a post will still drive traffic in next 5 years time even though I just leave the blog like that without adding a single content to it

I have over 10 writers

the flow and everything is what I could write. Most Nigerians think blogging is celebrity blogging like you highlighted. This is because it is where they first heard of it.

For most of us that learned from international space, we know all the sides not known to them. Another angle is flipping the blog for much more money. this your blog that made you $5k can be sold for nothing less than $45-70k if you can maintain that earning for 1 year to 2 years.

Above all, you did justice and I hope they will have the courage to do more research on their own.

Why should he sell something that makes 5k monthly for 70k?
