Better to build an economy on gold, platinum, coal and iron ore than flowers and coffee . That is literally the definition of a banana republic (country that exports 1 or 2 products and runs a constant deficit). At any rate our manufacturing and services industries are still way superior to yours, from banks, to hotels, to steel production, to automotive production, we're way ahead mate.
