Edo isn't a sub dialect of Yoruba, it only has noteable yoruba words.....

The Oba of Benin may be of yoruba descent, but that doesn't make Edo people yoruba's.

The itsekiri people are closest to Yoruba in relation but intermarriages, inter mixing with other local tribes has reduced their yorubaness....they can be given an exception in a referendum to vote were they want to belong.
