This is a top notch and secure system idea. Beautiful and well thought out. It just needs some minor adjustments here and there especially for the manual voting process.
I thank you so much for seeing reasons with me, and for applauding my ideas too

On the contrary my brother, the Nigerian tech ecosystem is more-than over-ripe for the idea.
The time you will get to appreciate the true strength of the Nigerian tech potentials, you will be marvelled
I see your angle.
But you don't seem to be putting certain regions and demographics into consideration.
1. Say the vast majority of northerners.
2. Grannies will have issues too.
3. Agberos in Lagos.
4. People who don't have or can't use smart phones.
The tech will take decades to be fit for purpose in Nigeria.
The idea will make sense if we have at least 85-90% computer/smartphone literacy rate with provision for the remaining 10-15% voting manually.

You listen to NTA-News too much.
That's why you think that these babyish issues are the problems with the Nigerian Elections...
...
The real problems with the Nigerian Elections are: Multiple-Thumbprinting and Results-Manipulation at the Collation Centres...
And these two things are grossly and shamelessly aided (at least, allowed) by the Electoral Officers.
Have you been an electoral officer before? Cos I have. And I know how the game is being played.
So this ain't NTA things.

BluntCrazeMan:
The best era of Electronic-Voting would be the time when we can vote remotely with our phones without physically having to go to the Polling-units..

And that is: starting with the scanning of the bar-codes on our Voter's Card with our phones, then do fingerprint identification and authentication with our phones, and then vote with our phones, and finally submit our votes online with our phones too..

Nevertheless, this wouldn't stop the manual voting methods at the Polling-units for the sake of those who might not have access to the use of high-end phones, but then, Accreditation and transmission of the results from these Polling-units must both be done electronically by the trained Election Officials.

With these methods properly put in place, the Nigerian Elections can have turnouts as high as 98%, because this would avail a lot of citizens the opportunity to vote from home.

(My Opinion Though...)
(So, what is your own opinion on this??)

yeah, people look at Voting in elections as something very easy. They think it is like going to the ATM to withdraw cash, but one thing I have to say is that This your idea is full of pitfalls as wide as Saturns ring. for one it gives whoever controls the networks the power to rig. even at that, an unsupervised vote is somehow tricky. How do you know if the owner of that phone is not being pressured to vote for a particular party? Also, it removes the idea of secrecy from Voting making it very risky security wise.

I know, what I'm saying is, politicians can send their agents to induce voters. Door to door campaign and influencing the votes of people they meet.
I would consider the Election to be free and fair if I am at the mercy of the judgement and morals (and uprightness) of the voters themselves, rather than being at the mercy of the Corrupt Electoral Officers.

Oharina:
My brother this remote-voting is nice. But it can't work in a country that have fulanis as the power holders. These people don't like anything free and fair. They know that adopting such policy would mean taking power away from them forever and ever. Cos nobody will want to vote a zombie as his/her leader. So they rather remain in this system where they can easily manipulate elections to their favour, either by rigging elections through violence or by bribing the electoral house to annouce a loser as the winner.

Will the technology take corruption away from the minds of the politicianshuhhuh??
Their greed will still be there with them, but the technology will render them so useless and incapacitated.
They will look helplessly and watch the votes counting in favour of the choice of the people, and they cannot do anything, even with all their money and power

Who told you they have not hacked bank servers?

You think banks will tell you they have been hacked? Banks will never tell you that because they thrive on your trust in them. If they tell you that they have been hacked into, there will be panic withdrawal, and serious loss of customers.

Even when a hacker stole some confidential customer info from Access Bank sometime back, Access Bank denied that their security had been compromised, even after the hacker showed evidence of confidential info.
Well, since I don't know much about hacking, let me not dwell much on that topic.
But we are looking for solutions here...

In Nigeria what we have is rigging not elections.

Don't deceive yourself by thinking your votes count. It doesn't and never has, right from the days of Obasanjo.

The one person that could have given us elections not heavily infested with rigging was Yaradua. And I don't see any politician with that kind of goodwill in the crop of Nigerian politicians that we have now.

Why the hackers have not bn able to hack bank servers is that Bank manager and the ICT head will not easily divulge the secret details to those criminal hackers. They know that the consequences will be dire.

Our politicians will be ever ready to give out such vital info so long as it will make their party to win,
They will bribe the Judges that will sit upon the case.
They will defend the hacker or better still, kill him once the job is done successfully to close all the traces.
That's Immature Politics

Sorry bro this will not work in Nigeria because of the following reasons:

1: What will happen to the millions of citizens that don’t have a smart phone, do you mean they are not eligible to vote?

2: This will make ringing more easier and cheaper for our stupid politicians. All they need to do during election, is to change the voting figures directly from the database that is storing this votes or edit the voting software to their own Favour

3: people will move from house to house with guns and force people to vote for their candidates. No need for this self because the second option is far more easier and cheaper.

No be Inec website them Dey hack any how so?

Or is it After the voting process?
(Where the Electoral Officer brings out the unused ballot papers and make them available for Multiple-Thumbprinting, or the Collation Officer Continued adding Zeros behind numbers, and correcting the resultant values at the Total number of votes cast and valid votes cast, and then increase the number of accredited voters in order to accommodate all the manipulations)...

That means, it is only the votes (and maybe perhaps, only the Election Results) that they are interested in?? (as if it concerns them sef)

"Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything"

68% of US Republicans believe the 2020 election was rigged: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-poll/half-of-republicans-say-biden-won-because-of-a-rigged-election-reuters-ipsos-poll-idUSKBN27Y1AJ

The issue is not hackers, but the ease with which those in power or access can tip the system in whatever direction they want.

Nigerian banks rob us blind everyday because they can.

Remember the illegal deductions case between GTB and that Innoson guy.

In 2009, Zenith Bank made 100s of N200 deductions from my account labelled "Up Country Transfer". Only God knows what that means.

At the centre of the US election rigging allegations is a company called Dominion Voting Systems. The accusation is that they flipped Trump's votes to Biden.

Paper ballots leave a physical trail that can be easily audited.

With remote electronic voting, all those separate tabulations at polling units, with all party observers present is no longer the case.

And one admin can add millions of phantom votes in a minute.

To rig a paper ballots election, you have to forge millions of ballots...makes it easier for you to be caught.

And btw, banks get hacked all the time...

In 2016 suspected North Korean hackers hacked the Bangladeshi Central bank and initiated transfers if almost $1B from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Spelling errors caused the bulk of the transactions to be flagged, but they successfully cashed out over $60m.

And there has been many many other successful bank hacks.
