ddippset:No matter what, Barcelona is still elite. We might have lost that touch but gosh, the fear of a certain player ( whom I know is the reason we are still regarded as worthy competitors), is the beginning of any coach's tactical planning. Nonetheless, I get your point. |

Article from Marca by one Luis Rojo. To a large extend I agree with his submission; The pros and cons of Ronald Koeman's first season at Barcelona The Dutchman's position is now under threat Ronald Koeman, en un partido con el Barcelona. Ronald Koeman, en un partido con el Barcelona.EFE LUIS F. ROJO ADAPTED BY MARCO HOLLOWAY-LEVANTAKIS 12/05/2021 - 11:32 En Español Levante 3-3 Barcelona. Barcelona throw LaLiga Santander away in 45 minutes Levante 3-3 Barcelona. Koeman: I know my Barcelona future is in doubt Barcelona appeared to surrender the LaLiga Santander title to either Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid on Tuesday night after drawing 3-3 against Levante at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia. The Catalan giants took the lead twice only to be pegged back by Paco Lopez's men, who secured their LaLiga Santander status with the point. All eyes are now turning towards Ronald Koeman and whether or not the Dutchman will continue as Barcelona's coach next season, with club president Joan Laporta yet to confirm anything thus far. It's clear that the 58-year-old has struggled during his spell at Barcelona and many of the negatives were seen in Tuesday night's game, with defensive mistakes a constant problem. Putting Sergi Roberto at the centre of defence was a risk that Koeman took and ultimately paid the consequences for, as it cost Barcelona a goal. There is also a distinct lack of team spirit within the Barcelona ranks, a spirit and mental strength that is required to see the team home in games like on Tuesday night. After more than nine months at the helm, there is no doubt that in some respects Koeman has been industrious in his approach. A team on its knees He took charge of a team that was broken mentally after being defeated 8-2 at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with captain and star player Lionel Messi submitting a transfer request not long after the Dutchman became coach. Koeman was also in charge of getting rid of Luis Suarez, while he was promised reinforcements that never came. Instead, there was only the 60 million euro signing of Miralem Pjanic, who arrived as part of a deal that saw Arthur Melo go to Juventus as Barcelona fixed their short-term accounts, while Sergino Dest was signed from Ajax to replace Nelson Semedo. Koeman had to make do with the youth setup to bolster his squad, as he called up the likes of Pedri, Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo and Ilaix Moriba. From 4-2-3-1 to 3-5-2 Koeman had to enforce a new formation at Barcelona in the second half of the season, as his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation wasn't working. There's no doubt that Barcelona have improved under the new system, but the damage had appeared to be done after too many points were dropped in the first half of the season. After reverting to a defensive line of three, the team found a good balance and went on to win 51 out of a possible 57 points. Injuries have also been a huge problem at the Camp Nou this season. Ansu Fati has missed the majority of the season due to a recurring knee injury, whilst Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Philippe Coutinho have all missed large chunks of the season. Barcelona have constantly shown two faces this season, which hasn't been good enough for the Catalan giants, with their lack of mental strength coming to the fore again in Valencia on Tuesday night, which could ultimately be the demise of Koeman in the upcoming weeks. If La Liga had started this year Jan 1st, 2021. We would be champions by a margin. This table will look like this; Barcelona 51 points. Real Madrid 42 points. Athletico Madrid 42 points. We lost a lot of points at the beginning of the season; a lot of young new players, a new coach, Messi issues, management issues. This illustrates my point all this time; progress is gradual, there is no magic in it. Time is required to blend and stabilize. We gradually got better but it was a little too late. |

devvy44: ![]() This guy's intelligence is deep as the breath of a stillborn. My emphasis was on the form of the team since the turn of the new year, not that Barca deserves to win the title. Why do you think analysis are made for a team's last 5 matches? Or last 10 matches? Or points since the turn of a year? Only yesterday on goal.com a certain journalist made an analysis of what the premier league table would look like if it had begun on the day Tuchel was employed and he had Chelsea at 2nd position. Is he insinuating that the EPL should transfer Chelsea to 2nd position? He's only pointing out the form of Chelsea under Tuchel. These are the most basic methods deployed in analyziing the current form of a team. Guy pls stop jumping unto my mentions, your reasoning is just too elementary. |

jpmoriarti:Dest has had many good games, it's unfair to just say he is bad. It can even be said that his form dropped when he started playing as a wingback. |
