Zouma's didn't force Jorginho to make an error. Delaying before giving a pass is NOT wrong. That's part of build up play. You can delay to consider making a penetrative forward pass BUT if that path is closed down, you can then make the basic pass.

Zouma made a basic direct pass to Jorginho. Entirely on his own, Jorginho made an error.

Did you see Jorginho's reaction after the goal? Did you see Kepa tapping Jorginho shoulder after the goal in a bid to encourage him? Why didn't he go and encourage Zouma?

Who finally scored the goal? Smith Rowe! If Jorginho had reacted fast enough, he would have prevented Smith Rowe from scoring.

Anyways the leaks were accurate. The new kit has been unveiled. The unveiling video is top notch, but the kit itself is the opposite. How somebody made a terrible combination of designs and decided it was suitable for our home kit is beyond me. The yellow colour on it is the only thing I really like about the kit.

Jorginho is definitely 100% at fault for that goal but then again, these kind of forced defensive errors are expected to occur once in a while towards teams that love building their attacks from deep.
Teams that usually pass out from the back are expected to run into these problems from time to time especially when they face teams who effectively maintain Frontline pressure. It has happened to Barca severally this season, even Bayern. Don't forget that our comeback win against mancity last week was initiated upon from forced defensive errors in their own half too.

My point is that it happens. It would be troubling if it was recurrent, but as our defensive record shows this season, this is clearly an anomaly. One which is unlikely to happen anytime soon again. We move....

Is Jorginho really 100% at fault? Yes the mistake came from him. But Zouma's decision making was really suspect.

Looking at it again, Zouma had more than one opportunity to pass to better options - he could have passed to Chilwell, or Gilmour, or just gone back to Kepa. He passed to Jorginho the first time after overlooking better options, and Jorgo gave him the ball back. He still passed to Jorginho again while he (J5) was surrounded by about three Assnal players.

Jorginho should've been more composed, but in hindsight, Zouma should've made a better pass sooner.

They both share the blame TBH. Jorgo maybe gets the greater share, but I really feel Zouma should've been quicker - and better - with his decision making.

I don't understand all these. Normal jorginho that we have seen this season will still handle it without problem. It is just simply a mistake, and every player makes mistake. Kovacic can make the 7mistake, gilmour can make it.

If you know Tuchels tactics and watched how Arsenal refused to be dragged out of defensive positions, you will understand why Zouma did that.

You can't tell me that the CB that gave Kante this pass below didn't have options to play a lofted pass to the flanks himself.

It's a tactical play to drag opponents out and get their numbers depleted for one attacker to pick up the subsequent pass and run at defence.

I am sick and tired of these agendas here.
I know people who would have given some blame to Christensen if he did what Zouma did, even though they are not blaming Zouma today. This is agenda. Even Thiago silva that was closer to the goal post than Jorginho stood still. Everybody thought it's was a sure goal already and no one expected Kepa to even reach the ball.

When we start to view football in terms of sequence, automatism, transition, triangular plays maybe we would also learn to look at some players critically. A lot of people tend to focus on actions than inactions - for obvious reasons. But how in the hell can u not know when to release and recycle valve in possession

As much as Jorginho gets most of the blame - There's almost a reason for all his plays/passes, I would even say that was an automatic sequence from training at restarting the build from back (Maybe mostly with Mendy). His only mistake was not raising his head to see where Kepa was. Meanwhile Kepa was trying to make things easier for Zouma in terms of passing lanes/options.

Sometimes I watch some players in terms of their decision making and I cannot understand what they are trying to achieve. U look at Zouma and just know he would never fit a ball control or system possession. Even his concentration is suspect at times

This is one of the same reasons I disliked Cahill as a footballer. How can u be a good footballer if you are so uncomfortable on the ball, How then do u deal with pressure on the ball. Anyway I'm glad TT realized his mistake. Zouma should be our last option among the CB's

Yes he has options really, but the crux of the matter is not about the options he had but whether he gave jorg a bad pass or in a bad situation. And the answer is NO!.

Ordinary looking up by jorginho to see where kepa is can't be zouma fault.

If everybody start looking at "better passing options" before a player gives a final pass to another person, then I'm sure only few Chelsea players might pass that criteria
