Another failed state. The quasi state,of which Al-qaeda, Al-shabab,Boko Haram,ISWAP etc thrive, preys on failed states and distabilized economies. Also, arm dealers see these failed entities as havens for the sale of arms and ammunition.
But the biggest problem with power grabbers -military or civilian- is that they just want to steal without clearing any political or economic mess they inherit.

Na wa for all these backward people

It was the greed of the transition govt that led to this coup!

The transition govt instead of planning for elections just woke up and sacked the council and elected new members without discussing or carrying the nation along!
That is why nobody is interested

If Mali like let them kill themselves

That is the basic problem.

Mali has terrorism to battle
It has economic theft
It has poor electoral structure
It also has covid

Saying that he 'seized' power is actually putting it the wrong way.

The Colonel is the man with all the real powers in Mali right now. The so-called 'civilian leaders' are like puppets in his hands. He can do whatever he so wants with them- however he likes.

What he has simply done is fire his civilian employees and taken back the power which he had{rather reluctantly} given them earlier on.

AU, ECOWAS, and the rest can keep on calling it a 'coup' for all they care.

Gbam! I too like you. You said it as it is without failing to call out their hypocrisy.
You are too much!

However, the regional body Ecowas, which mediated the transition deal, insisted on a civilian leader.

Jonathan once again failed. If were to be others in charge of mediation, Hypocrite Adulterous Pastor Reno Omokri will be all over the place.

Waiting to see the difference between the ousted president IBK, interim president Ndaw and this col Goita. Instead of the international community to be sincerely concerned about the welfare of the people, thy are more interested in foisting their governmental ideology on them without thoroughly accessing how beneficial it is to the people.
Nigeria has been practicing democracy since 1999, has it really benefited us? the performance of our leaders have been moving from failure to problem to disaster now calamity who knows who's coming next? The citizens have been muzzled through a military documents called constitution and getting out of it is a battle we hope to win someday.
So, live Mali alone to make the right decision for themselves.

@baralatie,it's quite unfortunate. But they also have to take a hard look at themselves.I mean the leaders. They've got to be honest with themselves as to how they got to this conundrum.

Was Africa part of the international community that helped Europe sort out its wars by showing concern for the welfare of suffering and displaced Europeans?
