Yes but not reasonable

Studying Mass Communication has become a waste of time. 90% of OAPs did not study Mass Comm. Nowadays, all you need to be a presenter is to be able to speak britico english. Radio and TV stations are more interested in your SKILLS than in your Kpali.

Last bullet: There are many people who practice journalism who did not even study mass comm. You can decide to be a journalist by starting a youtube channel!

In this digital age, it is quickly losing relevance, so are many degree courses.

What we need do is scrap some courses and create future-proof ones.

This is what I’ll do if I were to be in such fix.

Take up the course since it requires minimal effort to make a 2.1 in such field. Channel your time and energy into learning IT skills online - coding, web dev., data science, . . .

Nigeria of today is no longer by what you read in school.

Certificates doesn't determine your job type In my country, a mass communication holder can be a bank manager tomorrow, so there's no criteria of the type of job u will he getting after graduation.



Just make sure u have connection at higher places that's all, anything can happen.

Mass communication has been unbundled by the NUC. By next year, no university will be offering the course.

About 7 courses were created from mass communication.

The seven new programmes/departments, to be domiciled in a Faculty / School / College of Communication and Media Studies are: Journalism & Media Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting, Film & Multi-Media Studies, Development Communication Studies, Information & Media Studies.

After law, what else is in art and humanity.
Btw, it is not just about course, it is about fending for oneself anyhow.

Let him go and study anything and while doing that look into I.T, or skills e.g tailoring, or any other businesses or venture into agriculture.

You can endup becoming communications manager, program manager, administrator, Policy expert, monitoring and evaluation and public relations for some of this international organization..
Moreover although covid-19 lockdown only journalism were ond of the few jobs that were not affected..

Studied mass communication, after the first week of graduation till date, I have never ever set my eyes on my certificate again, in fact, it is in a different state from where I live.
