If not for the coming of the white man, they would have finished themselves.
I heard first hand from the mouth of yoruba man about the feud between Akintola and Awolowo in the 60s and something called operation wetie.according to the man , you could be sleeping in your house in the night,one of the feuding party will come and tie a goat or bicycle infront of your house, the next morning the will bring the person out and accuse him of stealing, and before you know it they will burn the person alive.it was this bad.
the man went further to praise Aguiyi Ironsi, that God should bless him, that it was after he took over that sanity was restored.
Unfortunately, yorubas don't like talking about this,they have twisted and twisted history and how igbos killed their people and want to take over.

Your dressing doesn't change what's inside you.

The division has been there for a while but MURIC only brought it to the public know. I witnessed it when I visited a friend who lives in one of the villages around Okaofor, Badagry local government. Waris who was then in Pry 4 and his younger brother (can't remember his name) both Yoruba Muslims dislike Christians. They were always talking about what their Alfa told them and how their Alfa told their mum to stop praying with the Christians during assembly even though their mum teaches in a Christian school which they attended. The hatred on Christians may have come from what the Alfa who is a Yoruba Muslim told them. Waris was eager to leave for an islamic school which he was promised after primary school.
So, the division has been there but there is a high level of religion tolerance in the SW when you compare it with what we have in some northern states (according to those who have been to some parts in the north).
I don't know the motive behind this thread but promoting something like this shouldn't be encouraged here. The South should be united at a time like this and not to wash our dirty linens publicly.

the kiriji war also known as the EKiti-Parapo war is 16year long war fought between the western yoruba, Ibadan-Ijebu and the Eastern yoruba,Ekiti-Ijesha .

Through marriage, there has been a lot of integration and coexistence.....hardly can you see a lineage in Yoruba land that inter-religion marriage doesn't exist...
There is one religion in Yoruba land that uses Quran and Bible as their basic doctorine teaching ...they harmony the two religion and turn it to Christislam...so, lots has been happening among Yoruba tribe...you can hardly know some Muslim, christian and traditionalist...some consider the 3 religion has yoruba religion which they must participate in.
