Why Those Clamouring For Tinubu's Presidency Should Rethink by Eriokanmi(op): 9:12am On Jun 18, 2021
For the umpteenth time, both the APC and PDP need to be shamed in 2023 and it's all up to us to make this happen. The duo are a composition of ship jumpers and thieves. What we need at the moment isn't zoning. We need a technocrat who would change the current narratives in our country, if we must remain as one. Both the APC and the PDP have destroyed this country and they aren't tired of doing so. The time to stop them is now. Except people aren't seeing what I'm seeing...Nigeria is about collapsing in our very eyes but all we do is fight for a corrupt candidate and call ourselves names if we don't share in their ideas.

People like fashola, obi, obaseki, current borno governor, elrufai, etc can come together to form an independent party. They're among the few ones who shouldn't have been in the parties they belong. If you visit kaduna today, you'd praise elrufai. Love him, hate him, he's revived the IGR of that state, now becoming the 4th richest state in Nigeria in IGR without oil. Believe me they'd change the current narratives of this country. I don't believe in the ideals of tinubu or osinbajo presidency as a yoruba man. Osinbajo is another Jonathan in waiting. Enough of all these zoning brouhaha. Who says if presidency is zoned, the region producing it would fare better? What did we see as development during obasanjo's regime in Yorubaland? The road leading to ota farm was begging for repairs, sango Bridge was totally abandoned. I was always going to bayelsa when Jonathan was president. The east-west road road was an eye sore. All we need in this country is a technocrat not a politician. Our politicians would only go there to share money as we've always seem them do.

In lagos when fashola was governor he stepped on toes, including Tinubu's allies which made him have issues with his second term bid before lagosians threatened to vote him in any party he defected to and the pdp was already wooing him and then, tinubu had a rethink and allowed him. He did well. Tinubu didn't even nominate him as minister from Lagos. It was buhari who said he needed fashola and he could appoint whoever he wishes to serve under him.

Tinubu's presidency is a disaster in the making which we shouldn't pray for. We would see corruption and run. Those clamouring for his presidency aren't grown up when he was governor in Lagos.

I remember the jeun sapo, k'otun jeun soke days. People called him all manners of names due to his corruption-ridden government, like
ojuyobo, etc. We can't develop in all these bigot ideas of ours. Tinubu did nothing compared to fashola as governor and it was because the latter was determined. Fashola is the only Lagos governor who out-performed Gen Buba Marwa. Ambode would have taken the baton too but he fell out with same tinubu by not employing his allies to do contracts, most of whom would have done a wishy-washy job. Several contracts were saidntonhave been concluded on record in always a couple of times with money fully paid but those projects were never executed. Even under fashola, he threatened to jail a few number of Tinubu's allies he awarded contracts who failed to deliver, always going to sites in the night on his knicker quietly to inspect jobs done.

Tinubu destroyed ambode. He sponsored the state assembly to deal with him. Funds weren't released or approved to do contracts by the state assembly anymore and then, started the criticism. His budget was thrown off a couple of times and i wonder how people forgot all these and started praising tinubu for his conspiracy. There's an adage which says, you ask the man with a hunch back that his load is bent, and man now said to the person who asked , that you're only looking at the load without looking at him from the bottom so you could see the hunch back which caused the load to be bent.

At times when I talk about ambode here, some tinubu allies would take swipe at me . They don't seem to know ( or maybe they are pretending) what the issues were under ambode. They said he brought visionscape to mess up the waste disposal in lagos whereas, Tinubu's son did. The owner of vision scape is a close friend to Tinubu's son( his son in control of ojota-ikorodu BRT) and this wouldn't have been possible without Tinubu's approval. During the little time ambode had access to funds, we saw what he did in lagos which the current helmsman would find difficult match in 4 years...it's 2021 already. Under him, lagos recorded budget surplus for the first time in years due to his vast knowledge of IGR. This was even confirmed by sanwoolu a few months after he became governor. They said he abandoned the lagos roadmap and all, but oshodi interchange, the best of its kind in Africa and the BRT project was never abandoned. The buses he ordered outnumbered that of fashola, some of which were burnt in the various locations where the buses were parked by the thugs they deployed to disperse the innocent endsars protesters, those who later hijacked the protests. The figures are there. You see, its all politics but we understand.

Osinbajo should be allowed to retire too, if they don't want another Jonathan because the more he looks, the less he sees. He'd be too soft to deal with issues.

Anyone clamouring for Tinubu presidency is a drug addict like Tinubu himself so shouldn't be taken serious

Op, you are entitled to your opinion, just like anyone else. But I have to say that your opinion is not realistic in our political climate. It's not enough to say you want lagbaja and tamedun as your preferred candidate. Anyone that wants to aim for political office must either be willing to do the dirty work of politicking by getting out in the field to do the hardwork of building structures from the grassroots, or have an influential 'baba isale' that would sponsor his candidacy. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, and this isn't only unique to Lagos politics. The likes of El-Rufai and many others in the North rode on the popularity and goodwill of Buhari to become governor. In a democracy, the party decides its flag-bearer which it then presents to the electorate to vote for during elections.

If Fashola, Obi, Obaseki, and the others you prefer as president want to stand a chance of being elected into that office, then they need to show enough ambition to build the necessary structures (instead of waiting for a Tinubu, Buhari, Oshiomhole or any other baba somewhere whom they can ride on his coat-tails to get power). Besides, we know how that usually ends (in betrayal). Tinubu has so many lazy loyalists (unfortunately he can't satisfy all of them) who are waiting for him to help them get political power through his hard-earned structures built over the years, without them putting in the effort. He has done what many of his critics don't have the heart to do - - grooming others into becoming leaders in their own right. Anyone that feels he (Tinubu) is not good enough to vie for the presidency should go ahead and put in the work, get his party's nomination, and e sure his name appears on the ballot box on election day, so that we can appraise his competence though our votes. Only a fool would expect Tinubu to just lay down and die or give up his political ambitions just because you can't stand him. Man is a political animal. If any of your favs have what it takes to challenge Tinubu politically, they should man-up and put themselves forward. Many have tried with varied success. Eg, Fayemi, Amosun, Obanikoro, Fashola, Pedro, Aketi, etc.

The Fashola that you are praising was brought to limelight by the same Tinubu that you are demonizing. Tinubu had to disappoint so many of his loyalists because he could see that Fashola had what it takes to consolidate and build on his own strides. Tinubu's most potent skill is in spotting talents. And that's one of the unique traits of a good leader. He deliberately handpicked the Fashola because he saw what many could not see at the time, and he must be given credit for that. Ditto Ambode.

Also, only an enemy of progress would not expect Tinubu's successors to outperform him in office. Successors are meant to do better than their predecessors, not worse. So abeg dead all that talk about Fashola doing better than Tinubu because under normal circumstances that should be expected, else Fashola would be considered a failure if he cannot outperform his predecessor. It is obvious you are not a fan of Tinubu (which is fine) and that your dislike for the man has made it impossible for you to see anything good about his relative successes both in and out of office; in politics, those that hate you will deliberately blind themselves to your strides while in office, so your positions aren't unusual.

El rufai as president. I pray that no western nation ever gives you visa and if you migrate to any African nation you will be caught and deported back to Nigeria. You must enjoy what you wish for Nigeria in Jesus name.

The same OP wished for the military to takeover from Buhari - an ex-military dictator who toppled a democratically elected government.

Elrufai, he typed increased Kaduna's IGR, what he hides is that same man sacked people enmass from the civil service and supplanted them with unqualified persons from his ethnic group. Come 2023, should Elrufai be president, he would sack close to 90% of the entire civil service workforce throughout Nigeria. El-Rufai is the intelligent version of Buhari - who I'm very sure OP campaigned and voted for in 2015 (anyone who supports El-Rufai mostly likely voted for Buhari in 2015 and 2019 - see my signature). Should Elrufai become the president, Nigerians will cry blood not tears (which is what flowing). Elrufai is an ethnic jingoist who will stay aloof when ethnic minorities are slaughtered by his maurading and ravaging Fulanis like it's being done in Southern Kaduna. This is a man who proclaimed on TV that the people of Southern Kaduna can go to hell because 67% of them said in a survey that they wouldn't vote for him. As a result, he chose a Muslim as his deputy (in a roughly religiously divided state which has always had a Christian as the deputy). He would be the one to be islamise Nigeria fully (he proclaimed that anyone who kills a Fulani (esp herdsmen) has taken a loan which is repayable no matter how long it will take).

Just because he has a first class in Quantity Surveying from ABU and MPP from Harvard Kennedy School doesn't make him fit for governance. I repeat, El-Rufai is the younger and intelligent version of Buhari. He would do way worse than Buhari.

Anyone reading this should cut-off whatever relationship you have with an El-Rufai supporter. S/he is a demonic person who can kill you anytime any day.
