How Do I Get A Business Loan Without A Collateral In Nigeria? by Refinedbeing(m): 5:58pm On Jun 25, 2021
I am an aspiring entrepreneur/businessman and i have tried whole lot of things to raise capital to kickstart my career but all to no avail. I'm in need of up to 5M(or even less) - 10M but it's like it's never possible. I know most businessmen of today kickstarted with loans from banks. I run 3 savings acct with some top Nigerian banks(First, GTB, UBA) and i don't even know which of them to contact for such(even though i run zero accts but mostly move huge money especially with First and GTB) or if there are microfinance that can rather help. I don't have any meaningful property that can be used as collateral but the business(es) i'm trying to setup can be then rather used.

I'm wasting away and i'm not getting any younger at all fa.

Business is not done based on sentiments!

You have not even stated any value or skills you will provide, you have only stated all your problems and how you have no collateral bla bla bla

Only a very foolish person will give you a loan of 5M in the circumstances you have outlined!

Everyone forming boss. I'm not asking for a loan here. Share info is all i ask and let me get things done legally and professionally. Even if you are a legal lender, give details about your business and contact info not all these nonsensical nonsense forming.

1:1 ratio means one man biz, in this case if the biz
owner travel, the biz will also travel with him.
If the biz owner die (God forbid grin) the biz will also die
with him.
The biz cannot generate positive cash flow without the
owner.
So in this case your money is tie to one man, which is very
risky.

So if the OP can come up with a biz ideas that can generate positive cashflow even while he is sleeping on a couch like a baby am
all ear's.

I'll love to shot my shot as well and am not afraid to share the business plan.

I'm ready to discuss about the business with any prospective investor.
All we are looking for is a running capital of about 1-2million naira.

I resigned from Union Bank because of this. That's to tell how committed I am towards it.

We need a partner(s) to enable the company reach her goal faster.

We are duly registered as (Gavede Nig ltd)

Good morning sir/madam.

I just want to be very sincere and poliegth to you. Banks don't give you money to start business, they can only give you money to expand your business.

The rate of NPL (Non performing Loans) are on the high side and this NPL are mostly from the cashflow loans.

For SMEs, you can only get a loan through Cashflow lending. Just as the name implies, CASHFLOW. Your bank will look through your cashflow for the last one year and score you based on that.
So if your looking for 10m that means your cashflow must be over 20m.
Collateral lending are for large corporations.

Banks don't consider collateral as a yardstick for lending in today's banking because of the bottleneck in perfecting the property documents which might not even be possible.

For example, some states governor's has not consented on any C of O (certificate of occupancy) since the assume office and without this document or customary right of occupancy you can't get a loan from bank if your considering collateral loan.

Am I saying it's difficult to get a loan from Nigerian Bank. That will be a Yes and No.

Let me shock you, Banks are desperate for people to come and get loan from them. But you have to meet some preconditions for that to happen.

The best and easiest way to get a loan from bank is to use your salary account. But your salary determine how much you can take.

If your looking for a capital to start your own business,

*look for venture capital firms (or a venture capitalist), angel investors. This are companies and individual that provide funding for business. An angel investors will invest in your idea but a VC won't, your business must be up and running and on cashflow positive before they will even consider investing.

*Get a job save from your salary

*Make sure your company pays your salary straight to your account then you can use your salary account to get a loan.

I hope this helps?

Financing a business as an angel investor is the worst possible mistake a person can make in Nigeria because an average Nigerian is very dishonest!

Personally I would strongly advise against releasing your money to fund a business venture in Nigeria without the added comfort of a strong collateral.

Business finance by angel investors is a viable means for start-ups and small business to obtain cheap and fast funding in other countries but in Nigeria it's the best way to burn your money if you try it as an investor

I doubt if there are any angel investor(s) in Nigeria self. Nigerians are too evil. Investing privately(i.e personally and not as a company) on Nigerians ideas, startups is really risky. Just too risky.

Well I have followed you for quite some time now and you appear to be one who has totally given up on investing in Nigerian start ups which I don't have a problem with but going around poisoning people's mind because of your experience is quite bad. I mean if there is a legal binding agreement with sureties, why can't you take up a legal issue with the person and reach out to the sureties. As much as their are bad eggs, it breaks my heart when I see people trying to sell their dreams and one person because of their experience is discrediting them. A Yoruba adage state that if you close your eyes for a bar person to pass, the good will also pass and you won't know.

Another problem with the so called Nigerian investors is they act like demigods because they gave you money, many will say they want their money recovered in a year, when it's not a ponzi scheme, coupled with ridiculous terns and conditions.

Too all entrepreneurs reading this, God will send help to us.

An average Nigerian has dishonesty running in their blood!

I lost millions because I did not have anyone to warn me that financing a business proposal in Nigeria without first obtaining collateral is a very foolish risk.

I will not stand by and let others make the same mistake!

Quite long since anyone posted here....

I'm also looking out for an investor, 3M-5M is what I require actually. Been in business for over 3yrs, making profit. But my investor pulled out suddenly as he just got a visa he applied for long time. And this was the period I opened and furnished my new branch

I run multiple business:
1. Kuga Telecommunications: A registered business that sell affordable data, airtime, utility etc. You can visit www.kugatel.com.ng

2. GAKonnect Telecommunications: As a sub-distributor, I sell bulk recharge card to wholesalers, Retailers and consumers in my LGA.

3. Agent Banking: I also run a POS business with two(2) branches. I do over a million naira daily (I can show you my acc statement on request to proof my claim)

It's difficult to get financing from the bank as I don't have a salary acc neither does cash go through my cooperate acc. I only run transfer through my bank ACC when I need to make withdrawals.

I'm willing to give 5% monthly on every 1M ie 50k monthly for every 1M. Contract running for the next 6-12mnths(depending on agreement). Then at the end of contract tenor, you get your capital back.

For example: You invest 3M, you get 5% which is 150k monthly for the next 6month(if contracts runs for 6mnths). Then on the 6th month you get 150k as usual plus your investment capital (3M) back. Meaning you would have gotten a total of #3,900,000 by the 6th month.
