See, I'm not trying to down play Martins work, if any thing He of thrones is in my top 5 series, if not for the ending it will be number 1, and it still may be if Martin keeps up with the quality of his book.

I think I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

He thinks I'm trying to downplay Martins work because I said he was inspired by Tolkiens. So I told him I even preferred Martin's to Tolkien's. Then showed him prove that Martins truly was inspired by Tolkien, I wasn't making things up.


What most of you children don't understand is, no story is original, even Tolkien borrowed. Before lord of the rings, there have always been wizard, orcs, elves, Tolkien just mashed everything together and made a movie out of it.
