Your rights as a citizen is guaranteed by the constitution and not by the police. This is why we have the courts, so that the police can not just imprison you because they feel like it.

Is that a dare? The right to peaceful assembly is guaranteed by the same constitution the president said he was defending.

In this case which section of the constitution or law are they trying to enforce?
The rallies has been done peacefully in other states. If the police think some people are trying to cause public disorder, isn't it the duty of the police to protect the protesters and go after the trouble makers?

Rallies for self determination is not legal in our constitution, so they are breaking the law of the land

Section 2(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as Amended states that Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state. This clearly means that Nigeria is a sovereign state that cannot be split or divided into parts neither can any part of or group of people in Nigeria seced from Nigeria.

Sovereignty comes from the people. Also, the Nigerian people did not write this 1999 constitution to start with. It was written by Abacha and imposed on the people.

Nigerian top lawyers wrote our constitution and each representative of every tribal group agreed to it.
