Southern governors will on Monday converge in Lagos for a meeting, following the recent one held last May 11, 2021, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, which focus was on recent happenings in the polity and security concerns in the country and particularly in their domain.

Tribune Online gathered that the planned meeting, which is to be hosted by the Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will take place at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, with all the 17 governors in the region expected to attend.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that the parley would discuss issues relating to Insecurity, True Federalism, Open Grazing, State Police, restructuring, food security, among others.

Besides, it was learnt that the meeting is expected to discuss the gains of the last meeting and the next move to make.

It would be recalled that the governors, at the last meeting which was hosted by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and attended by 15 of the 17 Southern governors, arrived at a 12-point resolution which included the banning of Open Grazing of cattle in all the states.

They also agreed that the progress of the nation required that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of State Police, even as they called for the review of revenue allocation formula in favour of the sub-national governments as well as the creation of other institutions which legitimately advance commitment to the practice of true federalism.

Makinde sacked his cabinet members before Ighoho's house invasion because he won't be able to know who is still with him after soldiers' onslaught.

I hope he completes 1st term sef.

They should have the balls to demand the release of Kanu and Sunday Igboho except same treatment will be meted out on herdsmen and bandits.

I hope they will have the balls.

The only way to reply Buhari-Pantami plan is to ban open grazing all Southerners.

The unity of southern governors is a big threat to the oligarchical dominance of the core north.

I won't be surprised if Oyetola, Ayade and Uzodinma will be absent at the meeting.

Some of these southern governors are sympathetic to Buhari's cluelessness, hence, the reason they will continue to sell their people's right to the Fulanis.

Nice one.

You guys need to be more assertive this time around and you should do the following.

—Tell FG that the lives of your people are in danger and your people are facing existentialist problems.

—Tell FG the police have failed in their duties and either they are complacent or the matter at hand is more than their capacity.

—Tell FG you have tried your best as governors with the security in your watch to stop the killing of the Fulani herdmen but your state securities like (Amotekun, Ebube Agu, and etc) are not able to face them because they don’t have sophisticated weapons and etc.

—Tell FG that at this juncture, you can’t continue to sit and watch while the killer herdmen continue to kidnap and kill your people.

—Set a deadline for all states in the South to formally pass open grazing in their respective state assemblies.

—Reinforce the Open grazing ban, ask why other states have not passed the law in their respective assemblies and ask what each state is doing to meet a certain deadline for the law.

—All the remaining SS governors should declare their own security outfit. They might make it state by state or a kind of regional system if they so choose.

Hence give FG the ultimatum below:
—You are giving FG 3 month to arrest the situation and make sure the killer herdsmen are pursued to the last man by the security forces to rid your respective states of these killers and kidnappers.

—Failure of FG to act and secure the South you will all test the limit of the constitution by arming your state security outfit with sophisticated weapons to be able to defend your land. Re-assert that you are willing to pursue this to any extent it take because you can’t keep shut no longer.

Southern governors, please test the limit of the constitution. You can’t continue to sit down and watch while these things are happening feigning powerlessness. The FG can’t fight you all at once, it is impossible. The FG derives her power from you all and the North alone don’t have the resources to ground the South if you are all truthfully United.

I trust Northern governors, if an Ijaw, Benin, Igbo or Yoruba people are killing people in the North like the Fulanis and the Southern president on the seat is doing like Buhari, the Northern governors would have armed their people openly against it without caring whose ox is gored.

Failure to be assertive like this by the Southern governors shows that they are the enemy of the South and all of them should henceforth be held accountable for every death by the Fulani herdmen in the South.

If our freedom fighters continue to fight alone, the FG will always find a lacuna to eradicate them because they are non-state actors and unfortunately they are also media drunk.

It is in their own interest that they speak out now or it might just get to that point where DSS, NA and Police will be waiting to treat them in the language they understand.
Seems to me like any meeting or gathering not approved by Buhari is a terrorist organization.
If it is done to Ipod and Odudua agitators without backlash, don't think our Governors will be spared!
