The last transfer window they spent the whole period begging Messi to stay instead of getting busy in the market offloading players with excessive wages and getting fresh legs that cost lesss to replace them. They should’ve sold Messi for good money to Guardiola and his sugar daddies in the city of Manchester; they should’ve sold some other players like Griezmann and even some of their useless CB’s.

They probably think Messi will play for ever and he will never grow old. Now even if Messi stays he can’t give them the same performance of last 4-5 years ,yet they will be cash strapped not being able to improve the squad more than what they have on ground.

If a team like Athletics does good business in the market , they should still deal with that Barca team this coming year

Seem you're right based on what I read on Internet. Messi is believed to generating 30% of total Revenue annually. So he's generating up to €200m per annum.

If this is true, then he duly deserved the pay. Griezmann? He's overrated. He's not even better than Dybala as SS or No. 10.

One of the major reasons why Messi has been offered a new deal (apart from his input) is due to the financial returns, they were reports last month that some sponsors were going to pull out of barca if Laporta didn't assure them that he would get a new deal, in the new contract, it's stipulated that he would spend two years in inter Miami in the MLS after his supposed to be current two year deal expires in Spain so a windfall is expected from that move also, The former president Bartomeu is the major culprit in all of this mess, Paying excessively for transfers and giving out wages like looted palliatives to cover his own money laundering

The return on a player like Messi isn’t anywhere near as substantial to be earning that amount. Using Ronaldo as an example who is ten times more Marketable and with a bigger brand didn't earn that at Madrid or at Juventus currently.
