So because there is permit to transport sludge that mean NewYork run on network of soakpits and cesspool like Lagos or Accra. Please do not be a slowpoke like you friend who just argue for it's sake.

What is so difficult to build underground sewage using concrete pipes - it's one of cheapest investment infrastructure wise - and nearly every town in Kenya has it.

Why would a city envisage a situation where you transport raw sewage? Leaking bacteria and spreading disease all over the streets? What happens in accidents.

As for TREATED Sludge - that can be transported anytime. This my local town asking anybody to pick it up

Kericho Water & Sanitation Co. Ltd
ttASmprepsdodinsorli t2etd3 ·
Photos of kericho water sewerage treatment plant, treated sewage sludge for agricultural use is also available free of charge. If you are interested please liase with the office.
Nobody said new York ran on a network of soak away.

You are really dumb oo

Let me enlighten you grin grin grin grin

I cant stand this level of dumbness

Sludge simply means used and discarded wet liquid and semi-liquid substance....

Sludge is not crude oil.... grin grin grin

In the marine Industry where I work, our Sludge is usually used diesel, petrol, dirty oils and etc, they all end up in our sludge tank... When we get to shore, we pump it out into takers which take them for recycling...

New York sludge that is transported by train and ships are totally untreated raw sewage, go and watch the videos again dumb head... grin grin

Your country Kenya is overflowing with faecal matter because you guys are stack in the past with 1800s tech... And that is why Cholera(a disease of the poor) is still killing y'all in kenya...

Yet every sane country has permit for sewage to be trucked, railed or sailed across town

Kenya is not a serious country and will remain undeveloped because you guys ain't ready to invest in proper tech grin grin
Countries have modernised from those open pit sewage treatment systems because they cause lots of pollution
rvp2018:
Oil Sludge - I bet you have heard of it.

Sludge is just a word to describe the nature of the material. Should we call it crude oil for you to understand.

What you transport in Ghana is untreated - straight from your cesspool - to the Atlantic or some forest or treatment plant - it is why cholera epidemics have happened a lot in your country.

What they have in New York or my town is a different problem- disposing of treated sludge - water has been squeezed out - bacteria killed - this now safe (if unlike Ghana it doesn't have heavy metals) - and can be dumped anywhere.

NO SANE COUNTRY WILL ALLOW TRANSPORTATION OF UNTREATED SLUDGE or MAKE IT A CORNER STONE OF THEIR SANITATION.

Your country is therefore a joke.

Start to build proper sewage systems by investing money in underground pipe work for grey water and all the materials that get flushed down from kitchen and bathrooms.

What is widen tax net? You just parrot things you barely understand?
VAT is charged on everyone purchasing goods and services - how wide do you want to make that?
PAYE is charged on everyone with an income - how wider would you like that to be?
Corp tax applies to all companies in Nigeria - How wider would you like that?

Who exactly isn't roped? Maybe they are few items that are not VATABLE - but checking your PAYE/Income tax - it pretty wide - it's just that there is 1) Nobody to Tax 2) Zero compliance.

Width is okay - maybe the height - maybe raise VAT to 16 percent - and PAYE to start at 30 percent - but with poverty in your country (world leading) - that could lead to more political problems and even less compliance.

Kenya internal revenues I keep telling you are now 21-22B dollars. That is more than Nigeria can dream of in the next 5yrs.

Kenya obviously is more credit worthy than Nigeria - because again - we have the revenues to repay the loan including their interest.

If Nigeria was indeed a 400B economy - it's loan book would be 300B like South Africa.

But look now - you have 85B - but you're unable to pay for it - servicing raito - revenue to debt - is something like 100 percent.

Your gov is essentially BANKRUPT - that is why you cannot fight terror, kidnapping, development take forever and nothing is working in your country - not even electricity.

After repayment of loans and their interest - there is really nothing left - so even the Nigerian Army who earn laughable salary may not be getting salaries regularly.
You don't understand a thing. A country can widen its tax net by making sure that those who hitherto were not captured for tax collection now fall within the tax regime, not just vat. Also when you do that you find a way to reduce tax evasion.

Mad Cow
1) Sludge - Semi-solid
2) Watch the Newyork video you shared - and let me know the part where Newyork transport untreated sewage sludge
3) Ghana just going by you and the other of your kind here - despite all the minerals - is frankly hopeless.
4) There is a reason why despite all the minerals - you remain poor - like Nigeria - and kenya without none is doing great
5) Sewage technology has little room for innovation - sewer lines will continue to take grey water to be treated - at sewer plants - except in west africa that lucks such basic infrastructure.
6) One of the reason you cannot build apartments and tall buildings is lack of sewer lines...not earthquake.

Stories of giants. You cannot widen tax base without growing the economy. Kenya at it's level of development will play around 20 percent of GDP to revenue - the same is true for countries at that level. South Africa and Magreb will play around 25 percent. Developed countries where compliance is very high play from 30 percent and above.

Nigeria playing aroud 6 percent tell you - the economy is at least 2-3 times overcooked. Actually I think it play around 3-4 percent - meaning Yemi Kale has really overcooked your GDP.

You cannot squeeze water from a rock. Nigeria economy simply cannot generate significantly more taxes than it does. It cannot tax your poor herdmen of Kaduna and expect to get money. Majority of Nigerians are poor. They are world capital of poverty.

The only increase I can see is maybe doubling your VAT - that maybe will earn you another 2-3B dollars annually - that is about 0.5 percent of your cooked GDP.Corp tax at 30% and income tax at 24 percent are at the floor. Your custom duties are also at the top - hence all the smuggling through Benin and Cameroon.

See VAT is already wide enough

Nigeria VAT rates
Rate Type Which goods or services
7.5% Standard All taxable goods and services
0% Zero Zero rate applies to goods and services including: non-oil exports; commercial aircraft and spare part imports; certain humanitarian initiatives; machinery and equipment used in the solid minerals sector; exports; agricultural equipment; commercial vehicles; basic foodstuffs; postal; residential rents; medical and pharmaceutical supplies; education and related materials; a limited range of financial services; books and newspapers

There is no hell worse than Nigeria. You are already roting in one. You probably got no electricity now - no water - your cesspool is stinking if not overflowing - you have job that pays little if anything - and if you were sane you'd be plotting your way through Sahara desert - to go pick tomatos in Italy or sell drugs or sweep streets.

Check all the socio-economic indicators - you're at the bottom of it. Let's not talk about kidnapping, lack of infastructurue and name it. In fact if GDP is re-adjusted to its correct level - you will be at the VERY BOTTOM of every indices - Somalia maybe will beat you to it.

That is hell - not even imagined by the jewish neaderthal of the stone age when they wrote their bible.

Study the law of averages - and your overcooked gdp will be self-evident. I expect Nigeria if it was indeed 400B dollar economy to be collecting 15-20% of its gdp as its revenue - as most countries at that level of development do. Even poor Benin or Niger I bet are there. Therefore when you collect about 3-4 percent - that huge outlier - and it can only mean you've overestimated your GDP - or you do not tax at all like Saudi Arabia and the Arab rich oil states. We of course know you desperately tax as much as any country.

For Nigeria to get 20% of GDP to tax - it mean collecting 80B dollars! Do you see that happening in your lifetime. That is where Kenya is - and with 80B - it mean you can have 100B dollars plus budget - enough money to provide basic infrastructure, do serious social investment, pay for gov services, and repay debts. Kidnapping, insecurity, oil pipeline vandalism, secession movements - will be history - because your security forces - will be well armed/resourced to respond to any such internal threats.

For Nigeria to get say UK or France level - it mean collecting 160B dollars - and to get to Nordic nearly 200B dollars.

You see cooking GDP is really waste of time and money - because it's a useless figure - it an estimate - of the size of the economy - it;s not the money in the bank like gov revenues.

Let me come down to the abysmal level of an average Kenyan, maybe you'll understand now.
You have no choice but to tax your people to death because your country is poor and broke! Your budget deficit keep rising. In 2020, it was over 7%! I am not sure any other eastern African country has a budget deficit as high as that.

So in a nutshell, you need to keep squeezing your people dry through taxation to pay for high budgets you could ill afford. Then you and your boy kikuyu1 come here to brag about your budget that has brought little development to Kenya.
The problem is not only your multiple taxes that's killing poor Kenyans but also your crazy Chinese loans. How will you pay for your budget deficit without the meaningless taxes and Chinese loans? And yet the slums continue to grow. Your education is still bad as you have shown here, joblessness continue to rise.
If you widen your tax net, you will tax people lower and still make more money. It's the same thing Nigeria needs.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018:
You know we can simply reduce our budget to Nigeria kind of level - for us that would be having 10B budget - pay our teachers 75 dollars a month like you do - pay our army majors and general 400 dollars like you do - the salary we pay our army recruits in training - we can stop development -capital investment - or deliver projects at such slow pace - it come to fruition 30yrs later if at all - we can go on and on. We can definitely shut down all the power stations and have everyone buying their own generator if they can afford - or sweating like a pig in darkness if they cannot afford. We can even allow kidnapping to become part of us - but we choose to resource police better - they use brand new car every day that is expensively leased - and if it develop a small hitch - car companies rush with new one - police get better pay, have life insurance and housing - all these cost money.

But we choose to be ambitious - and to set very high tax target annually - because we have a vision as country to become a proper middle income (like South Africa) by 2030.

So the budget you want us to have would be revenues 6B (being 6 percent of 100B) - and borrowing maybe of 2B - 8B kshs smiley smiley

Budget deficit - simply mean we are leveraging (borrowing more) and betting on our future - which indeed is bright.

Why not complete Eko city before starting many new ones.
Konza city once horizontal infrastructure is done - about 50 percent now - will fly.
The reason is simple - Gov is giving out the Land for FREE - as long as you're tech or research company.
So imagine for investors - getting free land with all utilities sorted.
Obviously nobody sane will go to Eko CIty and buy land for 10M dollars..when there is free land in Konza City.
Land connected to electricity that will never go down, with best fiber connections, water, sewers, storm drains, name it.

See the kind of massive work being undertaken by Italians to get world class infrastructure. Once horizontal infrastructure is complete - the plots will be issued for free- and 2-3 yrs - the city will be beehive of activies.
