The arrest of Jacob Zuma to serve a 15 month prison sentence is a lesson that state capture by the fantastically corrupt can be tamed. Since, 1960 Nigeria has been hijacked by some of the biggest looters known to mankind, that even David Cameron had to report the former British colony to the Queen.

Nigeria needs to build string institutions that are independent of the political and military class. In Nigeria the state capture actors carry on with impunity and move their loots in bullion vans in full view of the public, use state resources to fund elections and party activities and collect bribes in front of cameras.
