The govnor Ayade should be blamed for this. He instituted a curfew from 10pm since last year that makes drivers drive irresponsibly because they want to beat the 10pm curfew. I'm sure this driver switched off his headlights to avoid detection by security operatives past 10pm.

I wonder how he will sleep at night and how he'll keep his face and pretend when news filters about a young man who was knocked down at that spot. 9th july, 2021.

A student of university of calabar lost his life to a hit and run driver. Undergraduate with a Nick name known as Lewis, Hails from Boki local government of Cross river state, 2019/2020 session, Lewis is a 100Level student in department of Biochemistry Hails lost his life yesterday night around 10pm along IBB by Kuda, Cross River State.

Witness said Its already very late at night lewis was trying to cross to the other side of the road, he thought the road is free without him knowing a car without light is coming from behind, he was knocked down in the process, out of haste the driver have no choice but to leave Lewis to his fate, he lost much of blood in the process and was later rushed to University of Calabar teaching Hospital by a good Samaritan ,where he gave up to Ghost.

RIP young blood. I remember one December like that a hit and run driver knocked down a young girl who was trekking in front of me into the gutter. I narrowly missed being hit too.

The car slowed down and I heard the guy in the passenger side beacon on the driver to speed off. It's a traumatic experience.

The Nigerian Government should be sued for almost all lives lost in a car accident in Nigeria.

Them suppose build roads make am pothole-free but won't. Them suppose install CCTV all over the country for surveillance and traffic checks yet they won't. Even after it has been commissioned during OBJs tenure.

Them suppose put street lights for the whole roads but they won't. RIP young man

Driver is at fault and has a spiritual and judicial case of manslaughter to answer. A colleague of mine back in the days was exactly in this scenario and crushed a woman who use to dish food for him to eat because the woman operated a buka. The guy rushed her to a nearby hospital, reported himself and was crying all night when the woman was finally declared dead but that honest action he took to save her was appreciated by the family who forgave her. It was devastating because the woman had a very little baby at the time. It's a crazy world

Believe me, many Nigerians take a lot of things that could cause injury and death for granted. That also includes driving against the traffic, many people have been killed or permanently injured through that.

That's true. Take something as simple as seat belt, most people only use it when they see Road safety officers, as if when you die or get hurt it's the Officers that will feel it.

He has caused grief that could have been avoided if he had lights or at least used his horn since he knew he didn't have any headlights. What a wicked man!

I wonder how they think and feel? Something that important. They are not afraid they might even be the one to get hurt, for example by those big vehicles that don't even care on a normal day.

Even in the hospital see how blood was still coming out. Why can them stop the bleeding.

This happened to friend then in uniport. I was in my finals, he was in his 300L doing his IT in a firm. They closed for the day, and he was just crossing the road; this mumu driver just hit the boy and zoomed off. Long story short, the boy died three days later in the hospital. Omoh I couldn't believe it! This was someone that always comes to my place, he'll sleep, eat, he talks alot, we joke about stuffs too etc. The boy just died laidat oh.

This life na absolutely nothing

Doctor - patient ratio in Nigeria is 1 doctor to 6,000 patients as against WHO standard of 1 doctor to 600 patients.
I am a doctor and I'm glad I left Nigeria for UK when I did. No regrets at all
