Nigerian soldiers don't like you because you are Igbo. Your Igbo politicians eat from Nigeria, and are like they swore that Nigeria is the best thing ever that came to the Igbo.
You want a sovereign Biafra country. But northern Nigeria will not want dissolution of Nigeria because of crude oil in the Biafra region. It's a complex situation. It can only be resolved by a complex means.

This is the real account of what happened from a first hand situation report.

A military personnel bought engine from one of the dealers and he tried returning it because according to him, it was defective, here is where the problem started, the dealer refused to change it because doing so will make the transaction turn to a loss on his part after accounting for the commission paid to baranda boys (middleman/market touts).

The Soldier told the dealer that the commission paid to any middleman is none of his concern and an argument which turned physical ensued. The dealers ganged up on him and assaulted him. The soldier went back to his base, returned with reinforcement and the rest is history.

Something has to be done about the unscrupulous business practices in that particular market not excusing the high handedness of the military in this issue.

Modified: Why are people quoting me to spew trash, I related what happened, why holding me responsible and accusing me of what I don't know?
People are quoting you cos you just condoned the open killing of citizens by Soldiers, no less. And that the terrible state we are in in this country is cos of people like tou?

Are soldiers supposed to carry arms talkless of shoot at civilians at all? Do you know that soldiers are supposed to be in their barracks whilst only the President can send them out on specific missions? Do you know that there are countries where soldiers are constitutionally barred from operations within the country?

How will soldiers go to a market and kill civilians cos one of them is having a disagreement with a trader? You mean the soldier couldnt have contacted the police if he needs his money retrieved in a bad business transaction or even gone to court?

What the heck is wrong with some of you guys?

Dearlord:
huh If Ladipo boys means business per how?
I am not supporting violence of any form but know this in that your little mind 50 Soldiers can wipe out that whole Local Government if they if they should go by MSE .
i understand you because soldiers are experienced when it comes to crisis or engaging people in combat. have you been to ladipo and hope you know the soldiers that came didn't all leave with their guns because some of the ladipo boys overpowered them by collecting their guns which the market chairman persuaded them to return in other to avoid more bloodshed and also sanctions from the lagos state govt. Thats why I said if that violence had continued, yes so many people would die and those soldiers won't leave. And Yes only about 12 soldiers caused so much havoc so 50 would cause catastrophic damage.

Just to correct some of the things you wrote there.
The military man returned the engine after some days of usage. If you don't like a product why not return it within the shortest time. E.g 2 days and not using something for more than a week or a month and you expect the seller to willingly take it like that. There are ways to settle such issues.

Those traders are daylight robbers sad
Very crooked, phoney and heartless sad
Most dealings with them ends with Military, roughening them up. Why's that? Are they goats? For some people to do business with them, they go with Military personnel to have them behave and give them genuine parts.

Seun does nothing about it because it generates traffic for him to make money and it's a shame! There's no other platform I know of that fuels hate and tribalism as much as nairaland does. Even at that, the site remains as mundane as it's always been, no changes at all. Seun and those idiots that fuels tribalism, hate and every ills here should be ashamed of themselves!
southniyikaye:
Over the years, tribalist have ruled nairaland and seun is doing nothing about it...
They've turned everything into either tribalism, politics or bigotry...
There are some things which the government should be chastised for but instead, we either politicize it or turn it into tribalism.
The government sees and knows these things that's why they treat us as they like cos they believe we can't do anything and when we try to talk, they turn us against each other using tribalism or bigotry cos they know those are some of the things most people are proud of..

I southniyikaye will never be a tribalist..

I have nothing against anyone nor do I know anyone in person but mods needs to work on people breaking the rules and regulations of the progressing site. Rules 2&3 is the most breaking rules on this platform... pls mods do something about it and do something about the lady called sapphire

In the best interest of Nigerians citizens, I think everyone should boycott doing any business with the military folks. It always end in tears and they end up bullying you with their resources. Don't sell market to them. Avoid them when they come to your shop.

I wonder when people start crying fowl after you attack soldiers some were even trying to disarm the soldiers because the soldiers were outnumbered by the angry traders. Now how can you be so stupid to put up such act in a country like Nigeria that lack professional discipline especially the military and also stubborn and hostile citizens as well. In as much as we condemn the extra judicial killings by the military, the citizens also should behave themselves and do their trades in a legal manner. in my opinion avoid any confrontations with these soldiers just to make a point or show of strength, because it could lead to your death and other innocent people, nobody is happy in this failed country. Some will deliberately put up criminal acts just to dent the image of the country but is that really the way forward?

that is the most impossible and funny thing I have heard in a while. Sell genuine items to soldiers and be honest with your dealings and watch them become friends with you, you always have issues with them in terms of business when you want to play smart or dishonest.

I think it's about time a revolution on this NL got formed to fight against such bigotry, for the love of our country, if not for anything. I once called the attention of a Mod to a tribalistic post and that Mod ended up taking offence while even going further on to justify the said post.

The main aim of this revolution will be to address and fight against what Seun has refused to do and defend this nation against the weapons these people are deploying on Nairaland. Of course, we must NOT allow anyone taking sides with political parties be part of this, as they are mere psycophants. I'm so happy at reading the bolded above. I've always thought I was the only one seeing Seun's inactions. For him, it's the traffic to his website first!

So, you are justifying the random killing of civilians by soldiers? One day they might turn their gun on you. If someone is suspected of commiting a crime, how do you deal with that in a normal society? In Nigeria, the DSS or soldiers just show up to kill anyone. Like we are in the military era.
