I agree with you, I thought he would move to England but barca was in a tight corner due to the wage cap and had no choice bro, I would have even liked a negotiation for Joao Felix but since he's going and Saul niguez is coming, It's ok, At least we'll get a midfielder who can shoot from range
i'm getting some serious coutinho vibes

Grezimann can be sold to Atletico.

Me, I wanna see a very strong LaLiga, with multiple clubs having top players, who can push there clubs to glory.

Besides, the main merit of moving Grezimann to Atletico (I don't know if any other club expressed interest in buying him), is the massive wage bill reduction and ability to be able to give Messi his contract. Grezimann hasn't been able to reproduce his performances we saw him display at Atletico. I'll love to see him do that again.

Here's my take on this Griezmann-Saul swap deal.

Just go back 10 months ago to September 2020. Suarez was a Barca player and many Barca fans wanted him out. Suarez did join Atletico and we literally gifted Atletico a La Liga title.

Now, we are doing the same. Atletico already have bought Rodrigo De Paul. Now, if we give them Griezmann, they will be legit La Liga title contenders again. Not only next season but for atleast a couple of seasons.

Coming to Saul, I think we're getting him as a squad player only. He isn't going to displace our midfield trio of De Jong - Busquets - Pedri. Last season, Saul didn't play much for Atletico and didn't even get called by Spain national team. I don't really understand why we need him. His signing might turn out be another disaster like Pjanic.

We should be swapping Griezmann for some defender. Giving a player of his caliber to a direct rival makes no sense. And why not ask for a salary reduction if that's the main issue. If Messi can take a reduction of more than 70%, I am sure others can too. If salary reduction is not possible, sell him outside La Liga. There is no point in making an already strong rival, even more strong.

Our attack comprises of 2 injury prone players in Dembele and Aguero. As for Fati, nobody can say how a players comes out of such a horrific injury. Braithwate will probably be sold. We literally have only Messi and Depay as our reliable forwards. If one of them gets long term injury, our season is doomed. It makes more sense to keep Griezmann at reduced salary or sell him outside La Liga.

Giving Griezmann to Atletico is a bad move. And I don't think it will take long enough to prove it. Just wait few months. Atletico are going to compete on multiple fronts if they manage to get back Griezmann.
Great points but I suspect Griezman only wants to return to Athletico if Barca insists on putting him in the market.

And we need the money desperately.

Also I think our defence is even better than the midfield.

We are extremely short in midfield. We need at least 2 more quality midfield options other than the trio of Busquets, Pedri and De Jong.

With the way the transfer is being negotiated, huge expectations won't be placed on him like coutinho with his hefty fee, The only time I really followed Saul was the season atletico lost to real in the UCL final in 2016, Most of us have complained about our midfielders rarely trying their luck on goal, Saul does with the little chances he gets, and he'll probably bring those simeone defensive tactics just like griezmann did with his work rate and tracking back, Well let's see though

Messi stays but gifting atletico Griezmann will be your biggest undoing, are you serial lovers not looking forward to a Messi Aguero Griezmann trio? HABA WHO SWEAR FOR UNA CLUB!!! grin grin grin
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by ThierryJay: 10:19am On Jul 15, 2021
Even with 50% wage cut, Messi will still earn 1.2million pounds per week which is at least twice that of his closest challenger globally.

That means he was earning a whopping 2.4million pounds a week under his now expired contract while dem CR dey battle with 500,000 pounds.

Mehn, how did Messi cut this soap abeg? There are levels to this shit.

TBH, Grizzy's consistent performances for France has made me see that it's likely the Barca system doesnt really suit him rather than him being the problem. So in the end, the wise thing would be to let him leave, despite the risk of him coming to haunt Barca back with Atletico.

No matter who we get, I don't think Koeman would change that midfield for anything. Except if Pedri will take the knock, which I don't see happening.

Lmaoo. You no like the way EPL dey so? There is at least 6-8 teams very much capable of competing for the premier league title. I dont want Laliga to turn like Bundesliga where Bayern steals all the top talent around and they're the only strong team while others are feeders club.

I want a Laliga where the likes of Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico, Bilbao and even Villareal can all mount and sustain a title challenge every single year. Everything must not be about Real Madrid and Barcelona. Now Real Madrid are losing their stars and Barca are clinging on to 34yr old Messi, how do you think the league will continue to attract bigger talents and investments?

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not saying that Barca should turn to a charitable club and start giving away talents to everyone in the league, just to shore up competition. But if there is a smart swap to be had, such as Grezimann vs Saul, which benefits all the party and which ensures talents remain in the league, I will say, go for it.

Not minding everyone saying Suarez going to Atletico ensured the won the title. I will disagree because Barcelona at one time, had the league title in both hands, but only blew it due to the fault of ours. Infact, I want a repeat of last years title run-in challenge. It was the best we have had in a while in the league and it gave the league alot of merit.

So dont say i am yarning okoto, I am just looking at the big picture here.

Please what's your source? Before his contract ended he was on 1.3-1.4mil per week. And also, I don't know who the closest is globally but Griezmann earns 880k per week, Bale earns 692k per week.

I agree with you on this, except,

we didn't gift them the league, we loosing out on the league was solely on us, Suarez was impressive for them but we were already laughing at how they'd bottled the league, before we decided to lose against Granada.

Were there interested buyers outside Spain? Legit interest. It would be interesting how
Simeone setups his team considering Joa Felix plays exactly Griezmann's role, if he doesn't do it well, they might have a disjointed attack, but I don't want to find out.

Earns 165million US dollars from Barca annually which translates to about 120million pounds per annum. Divide this by 52 weeks you have a gross pay of around 2.4million pounds per week. It should be noted that the amount is the total package inclusive of bonuses and incentives but excluding sponsorship deals and endorsements.

Sergio Ramos on Messi: “Messi is one of the best in the world, if not the best, he would always have a place in my team, but it does not depend on me. I could say a thousand things, but they are not decisive. It is not within my reach, but logically I like to surround myself of the best.”

The way i see it, a player like Griezman is more suited for PSG than Barca. Maybe he shouldn't have move to catalonia in the first place
