Omar al-Bashir had sanctions on his person and associates, revenues were here and there. Compared to elrufai, Buhari, Tambuwal, Atiku etc., who are well received in the west due to years of calculated lobbying.

Basic problem with most African countries is that they are resource dependent countries...countries who make a living from selling raw materials and sharing the money...which is then used to import.

This has the effect of stifling industrial growth, as everyone is buys looking for gold to sell, and the rest is looking to make money off selling imports to the extractive industry

When industrial growth is stifled, you have no jobs, and a lot of idle men and women
