Fake excuse.
The real reason is that the government is not ready to release funds for the operations of those IPP.
It's not fake news

I blame PDP governments of Obasanjo to Good luck Jonathan

How can they build power plants very far away from the Niger Delta region where gas fields are located

Where the power plants were built are very far from gas Fields

To supply gas you must pipe gas from the gas Fields which will cost billions of dollars

They were just dishonest about the whole thing or they never wanted steady electricity in Nigeria

Nigerias has fields can power entire Africa for electricity
Just put the power plants where gas is available
And you have electricity
It's not rocket science
Very easy
But the politicians don't want to do the right thing

Sylva, who disclosed said that the country could discover an additional 600 trillion cubic feet reserve to enable it achieve the desired development required of a gas nation. now you come here and say we dont have sufficient gas all of you are mad in this country

You obviously don't know much about gas.
Gas is the fuel of choice even better when utilisation is far from where it is produced.

The problem with the PDP administrations was petro centricity of thinking. They really did not see Nigeria as anything more than oil and gas. To make matters worse for the power sector, they put 80% of new power plants on associated gas. This is gas that comes out with oil. To reduce flaring and make money from the gas that was being flared, they gathered them up and compressed it into a massive pipe network. Very good idea. The only problem is that when oil production stops, there is no power. The main oil fields providing gas to the pipeline network that supplies the gas plants are now shutdown due to community, maintenance and operational issues. GEJ in particular hitched Nigeria too unsafely to unreliable Niger Delta oil and gas supply.

why will distribution companies not reject generated power ?

especially when more than 70% percent of Nigerians connected to electricity don't have meters but charged through estimated billing.

At the end of the day, light or no light the distribution companies will send out the bills and many will pay.

They claim that free mass metering is now a government national policy, but EEDC and others are publicly selling meters for over 60,000 naira ( ×2 Nigeria's minimum wage).

Everything for this country na joke

WE NEED YOUNG VISIONARY LEADERS IN NIGERIA!

It's an open secret to agree with that if Nigeria is been led by visionary leaders that employ the hands of competent technocrats and the economy hence becomes favorable and the boom reflects in the lives of the citizens most Nigerians clamoring for division will go mute! even you @SLAP44.
I stand to be corrected.

This lack credence because we've never had any visionary leader either old or young in the past and present. So your phrase as emboldened lacks any thing to go by.
Let's be proactive towards the online & offline campaign for young visionary leadership now and come 2023, once achieved and there isn't a differential then we can agree to your phrase. For now it is null.
This present clueless administration got to power because they vigorously campaigned they'll do better and the sensitization made people to want to see if a new party could...though I never saw any way someone as old as Buhari could going by my logic with critical thinking as to Futuristic approach to leadership based on my little experience as a mentor to young people, I saw the lopsidedness as per his past performance and disadvantaged age difference to want to see things the way Y2K generation could so i wasn't game reason I didn't accept their mantra.
So let's get it right.

Unfortunately, u guys think there's a magic formula...let's get us a visionary leader& all our problems will be solved. Getting a visionary leader is good but a "visionary leader" who d people do not hold to account, will end up being a tyrant. D people have a responsibility to always hold their political representatives to account. It's lacking in our political culture that's why those in power thrive. Until Nigerians understand their power and begin to vigorously challenge those power, nothing will change whether young or old is voted for

The reason Nigerian power plants have gas supply problems isn't
because of what you stated above, the problem is because The Gencos can't pay for gas supply. Infact the Federal government subsidies the gencos to keep them running.

The 100% government owned Transmission company can't evacuate Nigeria's installed 7000 MW of electricity capacity, they can at best move ~5000 MW to the Distribution companies (EEDC, BEDC etc )from the mostly privately run Generating companies .

The distribution companies regularly reject most of the power the Gencos generate because of mostly corruption.

Because of the above, most power plants in Nigeria are actually ideal very frequently and generate less than half of their installed capacity.

contrast that with what we have in Aba,ogun,Lagos and some other states.
Through a network of gas pipelines, subscribing companies have mostly been able to generate and use electricity 24/7 for years .

Even this present administration is planning for 3 gas powered plants in the North as part of the AKK project. The Aso villa complex has a dedicated gas power plant that has done well in giving it steady electricity.

Even with the excessive gas discovered recently?.?

Those petroleum products people just wanna be cashing out on Nigerians by paying power Holding not to bring light so the masses can go to their station to get fuel for their Generators.

And they wanna be supplying another country light.

A visionary leader will have a listening ear....moreso when young there will be no age pride like we see always with the old lots....if you don't have a young visionary leader how would you be able to pull through with your electorate power when they only know oppression and the notion of seeing the followers as their children....?

And the South will still be stuck with leaders like Obasanjo and Jonathan who could not solve the lockjam in power supply after combined 14 years leading the country?

Misdiagnosis of a problem will only lead to wrong solutions that will make you sorry.

I have complained no positive change... Baba God to you I look up to.

WE SHOULD START PRAYING OOO.

If you have the resources to relocate what happened to your siblings, your relatives, your in-laws, and your loved ones
do you know that this your prayer is a great insult to God...
what more do you need from him,do you want him to send down angels from heaven to physically rule nigeria?
God provided bountiful resources,he made science ready for it's use, gave us intellect to be able to learn from nations that are successful paradventure we fail...
now it is left for us to take actions against the woes in our nation.
as nobody wn die i better support dose ones wey dey bold enough to seek a change by disintegration.

I don't remember telling u that a visionary leader won't have a listening ear. What I told u is this:
Getting a visionary leader is good but a "visionary leader" who d people do not hold to account, will end up being a tyrant.
What do u mean by this:

moreso when young there will be no age pride like we see always with the old lots..
Is there any universal law that supports this theory? Are there any guarantees?

D problem with ur summation is that everything rises and falls on d shoulders of "the young visionary leader". But u fail to understand where d people come in. It is this wrong notion that it's d leader who is d deliverer that turns them into demi-gods.

The constitution says in Section 14 (2a) that "sovereignty BELONGS to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this constitution derives all it's power and authority".

This aspect of d constitution is based on d principle of social contract. U can't be pushing an agenda for a "young visionary leader" outside of d provisions of d constitution which places ultimate power in d hands of d people. It will not work. U will only produce old wine in new wine skins.

It is d duty of d people to continuously let their elected representatives (young or old) know that it is d people that own d power not just thru elections every 4years, but by holding them accountable within every 4years.

How are those two you mentioned related to my campaign for YOUNG VISIONARY LEADERS with their age! Next time read to comprehend and not just for quoting sakes.

According to your analogy of the section or subsection of the constitution you quoted that allows for control by the electorate kindly enlighten those reading our convo how to go about that with a bad myopic young or old leader .....because based on the emboldened you are painting a scenario of the people been in control no matter the type of leader.

Though in my opinion only a young visionary leader will be subject to such process based on his visionary mindset to lead or rule.
