Allow state to run prison services including private body.

The federal government might decide to allow state or private bodies to run prison services for inmates with minor offences or those whose jail term is from one month to five years.

That will help to decongest the federal prison and also take away the heavy burden which centralization has imposed on Nigeria.

Aregbesola should be ashamed to say this. The capacity of all the prisons in Nigeria is 50,000 and you now have 50,000+ awaiting trial. Come on

I think the judiciary is slower and more dysfunctional than NASS.

Let then subcontract building and management of prisons to private firms and increase the number of mobile courts. Build the prisons around farms and put the inmates to work.
God will bless you.
Prisoners, can serve as cheap labour especially in Agriculture and sanitation.

Just see how this guys start and finish all their noise on paper. This country is one hell of a laughing stock, just see how the Minister and the governor and everyone who made that function a success just successfully made a Mockery of themselves with a straight face.

If you are sane and you go into a Nigerian prison you will be deform, distorted, and twisted. The reformation he is talking about exist only on that shit of paper in his hand, nothing like that exist in the prisons, the only people trying to do something to alleviate the suffering of inmates there are some few churches and NGO’. As for the government once they throw you there you are forgotten, the only thing they owe you is that sakpa beans not fit for a dog consumption before imaging a human being created in God’s image.

I spend 5yrs of my life in ikoyi prison awaiting trial before I was release and have been active in going there with my church and we go there twice a month and nothing has change or seem to be changing; the only thing that has change ever since is the name from a prison to a correctional center.

And for those spewing gbegerish, permit to announce to you that it doesn’t take much to end yourself a space in the prison. On the 14th day of January 2014 I was sleeping in my flat at Abraham Adesanya Estate Ajah: when a loud bang on my car woke me up and I hurriedly went out to look and behold a neighbor had just bash into my car on an attempt to leave the compound that Saturday morning. It was a new car and as a young man that I was, I was emotionally attached to the car. So, when I got out and saw the damage I couldn’t hold back from screaming omg see my car! I kept screaming see my car, see my car and a neighbor just responding and I quote “see my car, see my car na person die?” Omo! I couldn’t hold back but to jump on him. Just one punch he went down and slumped, we quickly rushed him to Safeway hospital and he was declared death right there. The guy that batched my car was looking at me and I was looking him alongside our wives, we all were speechless, dumbfounded and in absolute confusion. Right there my address changed and my journey to the prison began where I spent 5yrs of my life. So when you talk be careful.

I wasn’t a criminal in anyways as a matter of fact I was gainfully employed with a construction company at the time and my wife had just given birth to my second child who was just two month old When this calamity struck, so be-careful as your stereotype and profile people.

Our country is a failed state where governance begins and end on paper. If the govern do not feel the impact of their government. then I ask, who is governance for? If the inmates cannot feel the reformational policies. Then i ask, who is the reformation for? I just thank God for death because it is the greatest equalizer of all men and it brings us all to a common end. If you like pack all the money in Nigeria and convert it to yours, you won’t be here forever. The grave is waiting for us all.
