he said fairly used laptop, not new. 50k will get a first generation core i3 or i5, even uk used.

Raise your budget. for that price you could get a uk used Intel core 2 duo, or intel pentium processor. You would be lucky getting a core i3, but forget about it being neat. You can get a 4gb intel HD graphics at best.
