It's hard not to love the Yoruba mentality. NBA Best [Adetokunbo], WNBA All-Star MVP [ Arike Ogunbowale], World's No1 Boxer [ Anthony Joshua], Top MMA Champion [Adesanya.] Yet Yoruba folks on Twitter will act as though these people are not related to them by tribe. Humility.

Yorubas generally don't have low self esteem, na low self esteem dey make people dey hype their kinsmen who are only of the same ethnic but not representing their Nation overseas, they represented Nigeria and so their achievements should be hyped by their family members only

average Yoruba man, I mean layman have IQ than a professor in another Nigeria nation, that's fact.

Stupid people and the way they pull things out of their ass to make passive aggressive attacks on Igbos.
Passive aggressive Yoruba motherfuckers.

If you like don't hype your own, stay there and be monitoring and criticizing how Igbos hype their own.

You hold so much bile and resentment for Igbos and still want to police and control how Igbos should hype their own.
Useless Ajonfa!

But the guy is not Yoruba.

He’s just getting wowed as to how evolved the Yorubas are and how they behave like human beings and not apes that beat their hairy chest over every single thing.

Why are you pained?

I went through that tweet and the people that responded are Yorubas with their passive aggressive response.

How Afonja evolved or how Afonja cannot hype their own the way Igbos do but wait for these sort of opportunity to go underground and show how they keep tabs on how others support their own. Fools.

You still don’t get it.

Why do we need to tell people we are achievers when the number speak for itself?

Why do I need to celebrate and chestbeat that a Yoruba was elected for councilorship when we have more than over 50+ elected officials of Yoruba origin in the UK alone that cut across years.

Why do I need to shout about NBA when Hakeem Olajuwon is in the FIBA hall of fame.

Why do I need to shout when Olusoji Fasuba is the fastest African of all time. Except if someone new broke his record.

That’s what the guy is saying. That even in the midst of this the Yorubas still learn to be like humans and not chestbeating apes.

So I shouldn’t rest because Wole Soyinka got those Nobel Laureate?

When you win everything, you won’t need to be insecure and that is what the guy is saying.

He is not Yoruba, but he is an aggressive APC man.

And you know what that means.

Go through his history, most of his supporters are Yoruba and Northern APC champions.

Everything is deliberate.

You don't tell people how to celebrate their own especially in a country where Igbos are marginalized and trampled on yet the continue to strive even moreso outside the country that rely on merit instead of quota system. Yorubas don't have the same experience that the Igbos have in Nigeria so you cannot understand what it means for them to bind together and hype/support their own. Our experiences are different, period so don't dictate how others should and shouldn't support their own

That person made a passive aggressive tweet, you and I know what his real intention is and you Yorubas fell for it.

If you are truly confident in the achievements of your ethnic group then you don't infer, make subtle jabs and mind the hype and way others choose to celebrate their own as nobody is stopping you from doing same but since you took it up to point it out how Igbos do then it reeks of inferiority complex. You and the guy that made the tweet and the Yorubas that responded are simply uncomfortable with how Igbos hype their own.

People that are confident in their own don't bother about others like Igbos just mind their business and celebrate their own yet it bothers Yorubas that they had to go under that tweet to express their discomfort.

Idiots.

You are naming your achievements in a thread attacking how Igbos celebrate their own.

Should I mention Chioma Ajunwa, or the fact that Igbo Super Eagles players like Kanu and Okocha are the most decorated Nigerian players. Or the fact that the Nigerian women that have served in top positions in World Bank are Igbos.
Or it Ngozi Okonjo?

See, you don't have to be bothered with what Igbos do if you are comfortable and confident in your own. Period.

The NBA guy is actually mixed. The mother is Igbo, the dad is Yoruba. The MMA guy is from Edo.

By the way, the Igbo people hype themselves for themselves, the Yoruba hype themselves always by talking about how they are not hyping themselves.

Come clean stop being hypocritical about unnecessary things.

Honestly most Yorubas are liberal, tolerant and accommodating.. we see success as a culture and allow others thrive and succeed on our soil. There are many examples like that of artists, musicians, comedians and even career people from other parts of the country thriving in South West.

Need I mention our recognition and equal treatment for the girl child as deserving of everything the male child gets from sound education, love, benefits from a deceased will to inclusiveness in politics and governance.
Gender equality has been part of the Yoruba tradition since inception. We don't confine our women to the bedroom or kitchens to be frying turkeys for men during family meetings or even sell them off in marriage like commodities to the highest bidder.

Yes I saw where they were comparing Adenuga's event and Cubana. Yoruba people are Pathetic Hypocrities with loads of insecurities.

Igbos are always celebrating their own. So?

Igbos hype up their own and move on without feeling intimidated by how others celebrate or not celebrate their own.

Anyone that is secure and confident in his ethnicity doesn't get perturbed over what others do nor make utterances that express their deep seated discomfort.

For Yoruba, how Igbos hype is an issue.
For the Igbos, it's all about celebrating our achievement and growth.
Insecure mofos.
