Please study the East Africa Slave Trade. Kenyans were not taken slaves. Arabs used to go to Congo and Uganda to pick slaves. Remember kenya tribes were free from any kingdom - so nobody could sell anybody - all the people were equal.

Slavery in Africa was mostly Ghana-Senegal-Nigeria-Congo-Angola. These were mainly kingdoms selling their subjects for crap like clothes, sugar, salt and maybe few guns.

Kenya was definitely a no go zone for Arabs or White people until late 19th century. The Maasai were feared far and wide - and Arabs had warned the white - Portuguese or British - to avoid the Maasai for they were unbeatable-- so the Maasai formed a huge wall from northern TZ (Arusha) all the way to Northern Kenya. After you were done with Maasai - nearly all the kenyan tribes were equal hostile.

It wasn't until 1890 that Kenya was colonized with Maasai weaken by civil war, rinderpest and British invention of automatic recoil guns. Otherwise Kenya tribes could make nonsense of the Arab muskeeter guns.

The biggest slave trader was half-arab half-african - Tippu Tip- was based in Zanzibar - and established his slave kingdom in DRC congo
Slavery was abolished by the Europeans in 1809. And since the Europeans did not reach Kenya until 1890 like you said there was nothing like the transatlantic slave trade in Kenya. But long before the Europeans came, the Arabs of Kenya's coast traded in slaves.
Lamu and Mombasa were slavery hubs. Many Kenyans along the coast were sold as slaves. Unless you want to claim lamu and Mombasa are not part of Kenya.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182:
Arabs when they arrived formed a close association with coastal bantus - they converted them to Islams - and intermarried. They were not raiding slaves or selling them from people they were befriending. Just about 40 miles from Mombasa - the huge Maasai territory starts - at the very south - the Maasai started from near Lake Tanganyika to Lake Turkana. Maasai reputation as fearless warriors spread far and wide - everyone basically left them alone - Somalis retreated to Somalia - Ethiopians moved north - and other kenyan tribes basically retreated to highlands - left all the grassland and plains to Maasai and their many cattles.

The arabs did slave and ivory trade - but they avoided Maasai territory - looked for pathways to Congo, Uganda and such areas - where kindoms existed that sold their people for cheap.

Maasai were the real wakanda - the brave Africans who saw the Arab and whiteman for crap - and could not entertain their trinkets.

Maasai to this day walk in Nairobi clad in their traditional dress.

This Maasai senator in parliament - if there are Africans who have kept their authentic culture and have genuine self esteem - it the maasai - not the crap I see in west africa - were 90 percent are bleaching.

Kenya kids thanks to it's high quality education do assignments, masters, thesis and even phd for students in developed world - controlling the 1B dollars contract assignment industry.

“There are incredibly qualified people in Kenya. Very high levels of English. Very able to write essays quickly and when they want to, to a high standard,” he continued.

Kenyan writers are sometimes asked to dumped down their assignment -smiley smiley

According to a
recent study
carried out by
the Kenya
Institute of Public
Policy and
Research
(Kippra), up to
50% staff at public universities do part-
time jobs, mostly teaching in other
universities and spending their days
crisscrossing from one university hall to
another, oblivious of the effect such
moves have on the general quality of
education.
We do our best to ensure that some

suffered.

Maasai wore the same attire - made from leather (cow skin) - they smeared themselves with red ochard (red soil). Maasai started wearing clothes purchases from Arabs - in 1890s - and only thing that changed was the material from leather to cottnon- the design remained - their many ornamants remained. Their housing remained. Their food remained. Their culture is almost intact.

Maasai refuses to wear trousers, shirts. The only change is leather to cotton - everything else remain as was. Their colour of clothing remain red.

Assessment start from teachers. You cannot teach kids if you cannot pass the same exam. Kenya teachers were found to score 96-98 percent of the same. Ghana and many countries - the teachers some scored 70 - Swaziland or Zanzibar was I think 50 percent. That is teacher teaching kids when they are functionally illeterate.

Which kenyan here is dumb - on average kenyans here are miles ahead. The quality of university education - or even secondary education - is something that concerns us - as serious country - and we are making progress annually. There was rapid expansion of university education without requisite lecturers..that is now addressed..and as minimum lecturer now must have PHD.

As for your dysfunctional country - you cannot even address student strikes smiley

You need cotton because you EAT COW SKINS AND HIDES. That is crazy thing I have heard in Nigeria. Your don't skin cows - you eat the meat with leather on it.

You could have saved yourself and got some leather. They serve the same function - cover the unclothedness.

Of course - many kenyans were wearing clothes - those that lived along the coastal - started as early 10th century.

Of course the exams are tough - and we cannot low it to enable them to pass - for it's sake. We are not at developed world standard when it come to education - and we need to start by setting very tough exams - and to know just how badly we are doing.

Otherwise it easy to ask senior high schools to name the importance of water - and give them 12 marks smiley smiley smiley

What kind of gibberish is this? Are you suffering from high fever?
I am asking you why no Kenyan tribe could work cotton until the Europeans gave it to you. Because your ancestors weren't creative nor smart enough! Wearing of animal skin required no technology of any kind.

So the Swahilis along the coast were wearing clothes because of Arab culture. Okay. grin The other Kenyans in the hinterland (your ancestors) were running around buck naked and the maasai had animal skin to cover his arse until as recent as 1960. grin

So you set developed world level of questions for your kids and give them Kenya's poor level of teaching. That's why they are failing!
There's nothing special in the way the developed world set their exam questions, in fact formal learning is beginning to suffer in many advanced countries especially the UK.

Your students are failing because your teachers are incompetent and the kids are dull. wink

Did you invent cotton - or you traded your kin and kith - to get clothes?

Kenya I have told you was closed world because Maasai had iron wall around it - there was therefore very little in trade - or exchange.

There were some cowery shells - and such - but it doesn't mean Kenyans were behind.

Maasai and many kenya tribes for example grew dreadlock for as long as they remember - and with their althetic bodies - their unmatched bravery - and their red paint - it was a sight to behold.

No European or Arab slave trader could come to take Kenyans slave in exchange of cottona and lint. They would pee on themselves at the sight of the red army of Maasai warriors.

You sold your people to 400yrs of slavery for a piece of clothe.

Our teachers are not problem. Their high scores when assesed show they know their subject matter.

The is a lot that is required to fix our AFRICA BEST EDUCATION system to match say Finland, Switzerland, Singapore and Hongkongs. Start from nutrition - some kids already have mental retardation.

Ghana for example has 35 percent malnutrition - that automatically makes nearly 35 percent of your students unable to answer anything - except guess ABCD And of course - name the importance of water - for 12 marks.

Remove ABCD (multiple choices) and your entire crew will start to score zeros before you introduce analytical assessment.

This not something that can be fixed immediately - this a long battle and kenya is ahead of the curve by POOR african standards - where average IQ is 70 (mental retardation)

There is no long history of textile in West Africa - it dates to 16th century when slave trading started. It the famous TRIANGLE altantic trade. Nigeria and Ghana - slave coast - was btw Ghana and Niger delta - went like this. European came - and cheaply bought slaves. They shipped them abroad to work on cotton farms in America and it was taken to Britain to produce textiles. The textile was brought back for exchange of more slaves.

It totally insane - smiley you own kin produced textile to clothe the world - and few pieces were dropped for more free labour.

These shameless bleaching low esteem morons sold millions of their kids for piece of textile.

It was better if they covered themselves in tree barks like they did - because after 500 yrs of internatinonal trade - west africa remain as poor as it was - as undeveloped as it were.

1) Nigeria South

Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade:
During the so-called triangular trade that ensued from European colonization of Africa, slaves were purchased in West Africa, shipped to the Americas to produce cotton etc. The cotton was then shipped to Europe and converted into textiles. The textiles were then shipped to Africa in exchange for more slaves.

2) Nigeria North

Before that Islam had brought textile to the north of Nigeria - and because muslims could not enslave other muslims - the Hausa raided you guys for free slaves up the north.

As for Kenya - Kenya coastal communities - were wearing clothes as early as 10th century .

Mombasa before 15th century - Lamu- Malindi - many towns that disappeared.

Chinese were in Lamu long time ago

Ode. Read this and weep. West Africa is not East Africa that was introduced to clothes by Arabs.
Materials. Evidence exists of several
materials being used to produce both
woven and beaten cloth between 500
and 1590 in West Africa. These include
palm-tree bark from the forest region;
camel and goat hair; young raffia palm-
leaf fibers; bast fibers from stems of
various local plants, including the
hibiscus plant; cotton; flax for linen;
thread produced by the West Africa
native Anaphe silkworm
; and mineral
asbestos for a linen-like fireproof cloth.
In addition, West Africans evidently used
indigo for dyeing and gum for finishing
the surface of cloth.

Chinese were in Lamu before 15th century
Zheng He's fleet
Early Chinese mariners had a variety of contacts with Kenya. Archaeologists have found Chinese porcelains made during the Tang dynasty (618–907) in Kenyan villages; however, these were believed to have been brought over by Zheng He during his 15th century ocean voyages.[4] On Lamu Island off the Kenyan coast, local oral tradition maintains that 20 shipwrecked Chinese sailors with 400 survivors,[5] possibly part of Zheng's fleet, washed up on shore there hundreds of years ago. Given permission to settle by local tribes after having killed a dangerous python, they converted to Islam and married local women.

These are Chinese in Lamu - dating 500yrs plus
