You're a bit correct but note that there are no qualifying games to compete at grand slam tournaments. The players have rankings (which is called seeds in tennis lingo). The players ranked 1-32 (I think) are automatically seeded. The remaining lower ranked players get chosen based on their previous performance as wild cards. Same thing as American idols. I don't know about now but in earlier seasons, after they've picked the top 10, they will now bring out the wild cards that didn't make the cut and the audience will vote for. The two with the highest votes will qualify and compete with the remaining top 10. So if we apply this to BBN, the wild cards went through all the audition and screening processes. They almost made the cut but we're dropped at the last stage. Two of them have now been given a chance to prove themselves.

There are qualifying rounds for every grand salm tournament....... normally just b4 that particular grand slam commence(like 1-2weeks prior) and it is for players outside the top 100.
Some enters the tournament as Wildcards though......for example Andy Murray enters the recently concluded Wimbledon tournament as a Wildcard.....there are other criteria for wildcard entry though....

Pere the actor is also playing the wildcard role well...
