Just30:How many times do I have to teach you to stop using words you don't know the meaning to. What is projection? ... projection refers to unconsciously taking unwanted emotions or traits you don't like about yourself |

rvp2018:What are you saying? It might interest you to know this IS MY THREAD. Read from the beginning. You are the one who is insecure. I kept this thread alive even when the other Nigerians left to come to you guys on the other stvpid thread. You guys vowed never to come here, but here you are. You got no choice but to be where I want you. Kenya is behind Nigeria as the title says and there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it. The other thread was a perversity and that's why it got banned. Now to the topic, I showed you when it comes to supermarkets, you guys are learners. We in West Africa were exposed to such things at the time the British were just discovering your ancestors running around buck naked in the bush and covering your crotches with hide and skin. Show me any supermarkets as old as the Accra and Lagos Kingsway supermarkets I showed you or shut your head. |

Prices at the Mombasa tea auction haveFor five years tea prices have been falling like a rock. Yet this is a crop which contributes up to 4% of Kenya's GDP and a quarter of export earnings. (26%) Yet they will say the Kenyan economy is growing. Voodoo economics. Kenya is broke. |

chrisooblog:Nigeria has to do something about its sports administrators. The fire brigade approach has to stop. There's a lot of talents here in the country. But politics and corruption are the major banes here. |

AfriqueDuZuid:Get your facts right, man. Tuskeys no longer has 63 stores. It has fallen to only 5 stores. Tuskeys is practically dead. Like Nakumatt. Naivas will soon suffer the same fate if Kenya doesn't do something about the volatility in its retail market. Kenya's retail market is a bubble. That's why shoprite could not last long in Kenya. |

You're back to history? I am not going to even bother with that? I going to be more bothered to why that supermarkets culture didnt spread; I hope you understand what formalization of retail and wholesalers would do to you economy. In short please even with your Nigerian education understand the basics of this thread. 1) Comparative analysis btw Africa Countries. 2) Contemporaneous or current issues. Nobody cares about 17th century or even 10yrs ago. We are talking NOW. What are you doing to turn your entirely informal retail and wholesale sector to reach Kenya level - leave alone South Afirca level. obaaderemi: |

You're quoting old stats. Naivas 76. QuickMatt follows with 45. Those alone are 120. There are more than 10 others with more than 10 stores. That is already 100. These include - Cleanshelf, Carrefour, Chandaria, Mulleis, Magunas, Khetias, EastMatt, Tuskys, Uchumi Many with one or two stores. The number now is close to 300. AfriqueDuZuid: |

The death of a retailer doesnt mean the death of the retail sector. They died not because the sales were down but because of governance issues. No sooner is supermarket dead than all their stores are snapped by rivals. obaaderemi: |

But you answered yourself; If tea contributes 4% of GDP; and prices falls by let say 30 percent; the effect on the economy is not even 1 percent. The same way tourism contributes 4 percent to Kenya economy; and so even with COVID; the impact is small That is the beauty of having a very diversified economy - Kenya export about 200 crops. Nigeria economy been sick since 2014 thanks to tanking oil obaaderemi: |

Mkenya2019:No, boy. This thread is beyond contemporaneous or current issues, it's about everything- past, present and future. You of all people do not get to set the rules here. It's about learning, and the curve is wide. I can sense your fear, because Kenya's past is so empty as you have tactically accepted here. Even if we are talking now, how do you explain Tuskeys crashing down to 5 stores from 60, how do you explain Nakummat dying, how do you explain Uchumi crashing to 3 stores or so? Your entire retail market is a bubble, and its right NOW crashing around your ears. You should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this up. It's a dead end as usual. But seriously, didn't you people have supermarket culture 100 years ago like West Africans? Wow, no wonder you are so excited by it NOW. |
